Cooking & Baking with Kids

From breakfast to dinner and lunchboxes to kid-friendly snacks. How do you keep it fun for kids in the kitchen?

What are the best after school snacks?

When I was younger, my mom would always have a yummy snack waiting for my sister and I after school. We usually had mini sandwiches or granola bars to hold us over till dinner. What do your little ones snack on after school?

I found some fun, healthy snack ideas using cereal, fruits and dips, smoothies, and fun, edible art to keep your kids entertained and their tummies happy as they wait for dinner: http://www.bettycrocker.com/menusholidaysparties/mhplibrary/everyday-meals/healthy-after-school-snacking

Tired of serving the same after school snacks? If you are looking for some inspiration, I thought these snacks looked fun, easy and kid-friendly:

Ham and Cheese Tortilla Roll-Ups

Peanut Butter and Banana Wraps

Trix® Very Berry Parfaits

As the weather gets nicer, making your own frozen treats will save you money and your kids will love them!

Cheerios® Frozen Bananas

Fudgy Banana Pudding Pops

So what are the best after school snacks? What do you serve your kids? Please share!

It's been a lot of years, Smile.  My two teenage sons and their friends loved making their own pizzas. English muffins, spaghetti sauce ( cheaper then pizza sauce), mazzrelia cheese, pepperoni, muchrooms, and black olives, is what they liked best but i had other things on hand. They would toast the muffins in the toaster, that made them slightly crisp. Then put on the toppings and melt the cheese under the broiler in the oven. This was their favorite and good for them. They even liked to use raisin rounds.  Granna2

hi there....one of my kids' favorite snacks for after school (or anytime) has        always been homemade rice-krispie treats. We have made a few different         variations; chocolate or p.b. chips, sprinkles, shaped like balls instead of bars,    etc. But I have found that making them at home, they are not near as sugary,   and have very little fat in them as opposed to store bought treats.                        Marshmallows do have quite a bit of sugar, but are fat free. So the only fat you put in them is from the small ammount of butter. And it feeds kids' need for       sweet treats!

I am the best cook I know...I make everything just how I like it!
