WANTED! weight gain?

Okay I know with all the hype surrounding our country's obeseity rates climbing, who wants to gain weight right? Well I take certain prescription medications that cause um....lets just say the food tends to go through me a little quick sometimes. This I think is hampering my ability to gain weight. No matter what i try the calories burn, burn burn. Anyone got suggestions for ultra-fattening foods? I have no known allergies and the medications I take do not require any special diet.

I would say lucky you, but I can't image that it makes you feel too good to have to go through that.  Have you tried more carbohydrates?  ie pastas, potatoes, etc. and less foods with high fiber in it?  Also, what about dairy products?  Most are binding and can cause weight gain.   Maybe also try increasing the amount that you eat ??  Those are my only suggestions at the time.  I hope they help Big Smile

Hello ssamco -  I hear you loud and clear.  I have an IBD (Crohn's).  I went to a registered dietician for help in search of ways to gain weight without compromising my health.  Fat calories are not the answer to weight gain but foods high in good calories.  Yes, even we can be prone to high colesterol counts believe it or not.

Peanut butter seems to work well for weight gain because there are a lot of calories in a small portion.  Try to find one without hydrogenated oils listed in the ingredient list because these are very unhealthy!

I have an Aunt who has the same issue. She started adding cheese to everything! She buys several of the big 8 cup bags of shredded cheese in various types & sprinkles some on almost every food she eats. She has added on several pounds just by doing this. I, on the other hand, am a thick woman...and proud of it might I add :) however, I have an overwhelming love for the Texas Toast that can be found in the grocery freezer. It comes in so many varieties like garlic, five cheese, cracked pepper, etc. I go through spells where I will have this with every lunch & dinner; when I do this my pants tend to get a bit more snug. So for you this might be great to add a slice with every meal! I'm not sure where this advice ranks on the health meter though.
