Hi missyishere!

Although chicken soup is one of the best things I know for a cold any broth-based soup should work.  Stay away from dairy product if you have head and throat congestion.  Apple cider vinegar mixed with honey works well for a sore throat.  Take care.

Hi, @missyishere! I know that when I was growing up and had a fever or just felt sick, I was told to stay away from dairy (especially milk). I know it's not exactly a food, but water is one of the best things for you when you're sick. I know a lot of people get as much vitamin C as they can when they are sick, but your body can only absorb so much. A glass of orange juice will get you all the vitamin C you'll need. Good luck in fighting the common cold!

Oh no, the dreaded cold ! I never drink any soda of any kind but when I get a cold I always buy some ginger ale. I know the ginger is good to help settle an upset stomach but for some reason it makes me feel better when I have a cold. I do the chicken soup routine, yes it helps, along with soda crackers. Lots, and lots of water and hot tea with some honey then ginger ale just to make me feel better. Hope you do feel better soon !
