I HAVE AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY.  THERE ARE PATIENTS IN THE FACILITY THAT HAVE DIABETES AND SOME OF THEM HAVE RESTRICTED DIETS OF NO/LOW SALT.  ARE THERE ANY RECIPIES TO CATAGORIZE IN THESE AREAS?

muneal,

If you go above to the search site  and type in "low salt recipes" there are 1029 low salt recipe's listed.

I know there are certain spice's that can be mixed to take the place of salt and I think I just typed in " spice salt substitute".  You might try that also.

In regard's to the spice salt substitute I got it from just going on line not in the BC site.  BC still give's  you some great advice if you type that in their site also.

Coolwhip Free has only 5 mg of sodium and is great for parfaits and if you find or have a low sodium biscuit recipe or can find one you can make a wonderful strawberry shortcake with strawberries, artificial sweetner, Cool Whip Free and the biscuit.

Rice pudding made with cooked rice, rasins, cinnamon and Cool Whip Free.

Make homemade vanilla sugar free cookies and omit the salt. Get sugar free vanilla or french vanilla pudding.  Line a dish with the cookies on the bottom and up the side one layer.  Slice a banana into rounds about 1/4 inch thick.  Make the pudding according to the directions on the box.  Add the banana slices in the pudding.  Fill the dish to the top of the first layer of cookies then add a second layer and put remaining amount of pudding into the bowl. Serve.

Unfortunatly there is some salt in the pudding. I don't think with the other items being salt free that you will be getting much salt over all. The only alternative to this is to make your own homemade pudding and omit the salt.

If you do have a recipe for homemade vanilla pudding keep it handy and change the flavor by substituting other flavors.  The only one that will have to be a different recipe is the chocolate pudding.  These puddings and sugar free jello come in handy for parfaits and even cream pies in a salt free homemade crust.  You can even make make meringue with sugar substitute and a small amount of cream of tarter for lemon pie or crushed fresh fruit toppings for meringues baked and used like a cookie. The toppings go on after baking.

Well there are a few ideas for deserts that you can make at home and low cost. Hope I have helped and you enjoy.
