We held our annual Bake Sale today. I think almost everyone in my department contributed some sort of goodie. From banana bread and scones, to cupcakes and heart-shaped cookies, there was something for everyone.

All the proceeds from the sale go to Second Harvest Heartland. General Mills, as a company, always has a food drive in March so we turn the money from our sale over then and General Mills matches the amount. Viola! Double the donation!

Popular items this year included mini banana bread loaves, red velvet cakes, Valentine cookies made with edible paper and, as always, warm caramel rolls.

I made caramels and I’m happy to say they all sold (it gets a little competitive here, with all the foodies—no one wants to have items left over at the end of the day). One colleague actually sold all her goodies to her rideshare buddies before they even got to work!

Renae, our staff assistant was busy all day today running the event. She’s still tallying up the donations so I don’t know how much we’ve raised yet. We're hoping to beat last year’s total of $1,000.
