Gotta Have 'Em Gadgets
by Heidi at Betty Crocker  6/11/2008 4:18:00 PM

As I’ve mentioned, I have quite a few kitchen gadgets—far more than I need considering I don’t spend much time in the kitchen. That said, there are many handy tools I don’t have. Here are some of the most popular selling items in the Betty Crocker store--none of which I own BTW (I’m definitely putting the first one on my birthday list).:

Pink Onion Goggles

Lemon Squeezer

Frozen Yogurt and Sorbet Maker

Pineapple Slicer

Mango Splitter

And the Rachael Ray Garbage Bowl which, to be honest, I just don't understand. Oh well, different gadgets for different folks.

I don't know about the onion goggles (in over 25 years of cooking, I've only teared up while chopping onions 3 or 4 times) but I do have the lemon squeezer and it is an amazing tool. I prefer it to the "juicer" attachment on my food processor and I use it almost daily in the summer. I use a lot of fresh lemon and lime this time of year.<div></div>

DyShaun -- you're lucky. I tear up EVERY time I chop onions. It's usually so bad, I have to leave the kitchen to recover. Wearing contacts helps, but goggles would be easier (although, not exactly attractive).<div></div>

You don't need goggles when chopping an onion just light a candle and set it beside the chopping board. Your eyes will not water.<div></div>

My favorite gadget is my pair of red Kitchen Aid kitchen scissors. They do a great job of snipping herbs, among other things. Plus I love the snazzy red color! I love your blog! Since I'm a native of northern WI, all your posts about MN, etc. hit home. Thanks! :)<div></div>
