Valentine's Day is just one week away--so let the celebrations begin!. How do you celebrate Valentine's Day? Do you go out to eat or make a special dinner at home? Because it is also our wedding anniversary, Jack and I have a long-standing tradition of staying at a B&B (with friends Jim & Frankie) on the Saturday night before Valentine's Day. This year, we are going to Tampa, Florida for a few days--for a real winter get-away.

My friends William and Cindy are living in Bahrain. Bahrain is a small island country in the Persian Gulf, just east of Saudi Arabia and south of Iran and Iraq.
Cindy is a professor at the Bahrainian Teachers College, where she teaches computer applications courses on how to use technology in the classroom, and William has just started teaching Culinary Arts at the U.S. high school in Bahrain.

A couple weeks ago I wrote about how I desperately wanted Russian Tea Cake cookies. I made them on a whim and was very happy to eat them. Strolling through Sam’s Club last weekend, I saw large boxes of Betty Crocker cookie mixes in flavors I hadn’t seen before. Among them? Yes, Russian Tea Cakes. I decided to buy the box and give it a try—it cost about $6 for two mixes in the box.
