I love fresh strawberry pie. When I was in high school, Nelson's Family Restaurant in Richfield (MN) became famous for their fresh strawberry pie. It was piled high with fresh strawberries, held together with a strawberry glaze and topped with lots of whipped cream. I often think of their pies this time of the year when fresh strawberries are in season and at their best.

The other day I posted about how much I love to bake and eat pies. Here is another installment in my tribute to pies. In case you are looking for a recipe to bring to a get-together, this one is a keeper. I have waxed poetic on this blog about pie before, but as a pie lover (we had a pie buffet at our wedding that upstaged our wedding cake), I am of the belief that enough good things can never be said about pie.
In the last four days, I have made five pies: three blueberry, one strawberry with oatmeal streusel, and one lemon meringue. We entertained, and then were guests twice, and I offered to bring dessert each time.
