Apple Pie on the Grill

We had the grill going just about all day yesterday.  I figured that I would try baking the pie on the grill (note: I used a metal pie plate...I personally wouldn't put glass on the grill).  When the lid of a grill is closed, it is basically a large oven.  I noticed our grill was at about 375 degrees (there is a thermostat on it) and we were waiting for the coals to come down in temperature to smoke some brisket.  I figured in the meantime, I would put the hot coals to use.  The pie came out great, and we even wrapped a few pieces in foil and threw them back on the grill to warm when we were ready for them. ...

Unsuccessful Baker? Maybe It's Your Oven

Famous for underbaking foods or always burning them?  The problem could be your oven. Inspired by my recent blog post on chocolate chip cookie cakes, I made a batch of cookies today.  I am famous for forgetting food in the oven, so I made sure to set a timer.  The bake time for the cookies was supposed to be 8-10 minutes.  I set the timer for 8 minutes, and went to fold some laundry.  I went back to the oven when the timer rang and the cookies were not even browned.  Set the timer for two minutes.  Came back, still not don...
