I admit that I own a lot of kitchen gear.  Being a food enthusiast and cookbook writer, I tend to get gifts that have a connection to food.  While some of my gear—like my slow cooker—gets regular use, much of it sits packed away.  One of my goals this year is to bring value to the things I already own by using them regularly.  I plan to dust off and use: A breadmachine that my husband bought me about seven years ago. Cash for Clunker Appliances

I used to live in a condo with a refrigerator that needed to be shimmed so that it was level enough for the door to close.  If you happened to slam the door too hard, the shims would slide out and the door wouldn’t close. If I was in a hurry, I’d take a kitchen chair and prop the door closed. We never got around to upgrading the fridge until we listed the condo with a real estate agent.  If only there had been some incentive.
