Summer Rituals

As summer is winding down and kids are headed back to school, are you planning to do anything that you do “every year?”  Maybe it is going to the state fair or spending the day school clothes shopping, or heading up to the cabin or out on the lake one last time?  Creating rituals that you do every year can be a great way to develop memories and also times to look forward to. Easter Project: Candy Necklaces

Different members of my family celebrate different holidays.  Some celebrate Easter and others celebrate Passover.  As you can guess, there is a lot of preparation to do.  Next week I will be writing more about Passover, but today I am focusing on a fun project for kids which is great for Easter and can be modified for any event, such as birthday parties, Valentine’s Day, or even a rainy afternoon when kids are stuck indoors: making candy necklaces. …And Mom and Dad Can Hardly Wait for School to Start Again

With most schools still on break until next week, at this point parents could probably use some inspired ideas to keep kids happy and occupied.  There are a multitude of activities for kids and families like roller skating or going to an indoor water park.  But these activities can cost a lot.  Stuffing teddy bears at the mall or playing games at an arcade is fun for maybe one day of winter break, but done repeatedly these activities can break the bank.  A fun alternative is getting kids active in the kitchen.  Cooking and baking appeals to toddlers and teens, and it can create memories as meaningful as any that cost many times more money.  Who knows?...
