FINDING BETTY CROCKER
by AndiatBettyCrocker 7/26/2010 8:23:00 PM

Hi BC Family, I'm Vanessa Bush, Editorial Content Manager for Bettycrocker.com. I'm filling in this week while Andi takes a much-deserved vacation! I feel honored that she would allow me to spend some time with you, her biggest fans. So, the pressure is on! [:D] I've only been on this gig for 6 months, but I've uncovered so many incredible discoveries about Betty Crocker that I just had to share. I mean, sure I knew of Betty Crocker, in the abstract. But I had no idea of the kind of power this woman wielded back in the day. She taught a certain generation how to cook. (I like to think of her as Martha ...

Not Your Mother's Betty Crocker
by Heidi at Betty Crocker 4/7/2009 3:46:00 PM

I’ll never forget the day a friend of mine came to visit me for the first time at General Mills. She was asking me all sorts of questions about Betty Crocker and I said, “You know she wasn’t a real person, right?” It was as if I had just broken the news that there was no Santa Claus. She was crushed. She truly believed there was a real live (at least at one time) Betty Crocker. My friend has since recovered from the trauma, but for those of you who would like to attach a living-breathing visual to Betty Crocker, there’s a cool new online cooking club you can join (I know Andi has already mentioned the club, but I wanted to add my two cents). Two...

Spring Cakes, Cupcakes, Cookies and Bars
by AndiatBettyCrocker 3/5/2009 3:10:00 PM

Have you been looking for a recipe for Texas Sheet Cake or a Rhubarb Coffee Cake? Or, how about an easy-to-make cheesecake or even a wedding cake that starts with a cake mix? Maybe you need a new bar recipe like Gooey Caramel-Chocolate Bars or Lemon Cheesecake Bars? If you answered “yes!” to any of the questions above, you will want to pick up the newest issue of the Betty Crocker recipe magazine at your supermarket with the Luscious Strawberry Cream Cake photo on the cover.  Doesn’t it look sort of...... LUSCIOUS?!...

Creating Young Easy-Bakers
by jillbcooks 2/17/2009 7:06:00 AM

This past weekend I went to Mill City Museum, a museum that explores the impact of grain and flour milling on the Twin Cities.  At one point, Minneapolis led the world's production of flour!  It is no surprise that companies like General Mills an d Pillsbury popped up in this area. The museum has really cool installations and offers many hands-on experiences for visitors, especially kids.  I loved the interactive table for kids activities that looks like a stack of pancakes (and the st...
