How Would You Spend Five Hundred Dollars
by jillbcooks  6/25/2009 8:22:00 AM

I just registered to compete in the Baked Goods contest at the Minnesota State Fair.  From here on out, I am on the lookout for ideas and inspiration.  I know that I want to find a way to put a contemporary twist on a classic recipe.  I have been really into baking bundt cakes this year, so I think that I want to use a basic bundt recipe as my starting place.  Now the key is to think about how to make it fresh and different.  I really would love to win a blue ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair.  I think my Turtle Bundt cake needs some tweaking, but has a lot of promise.  I will keep you up to date here as I keep refining it.

Would you love to win a recipe contest?  Enter the Betty Crocker Create a Stir Suddenly Salad contest.  The prizes are amazing: $500 cash, a catered Labor Day bbq for 25 people, and having your recipe featured on Suddenly Salad packages and BettyCrocker.com.  Again, the key to developing a great recipe is to find a way to make it fresh and new.  Think about food trends.  Think about your favorite restaurant dishes.  Think about ethnic food influences.  I love making Asian Noodle salad with chunks of chicken.  I could see tinkering with a box of Suddenly Salad Classic to create similar recipe.  I have been on a chicken taco kick lately, and could see using a Suddenly Salad Chipotle Ranch mix to create a salad with a chicken taco taste.  Start experimenting and developing your recipe, and save with a coupon

What ideas do you have?  How would you spend the $500 prize?
