Bread Sculptures

Last weekend, my husband and I headed off on a day trip to Red Wing, Minnesota to find a bite to eat, window shop and take in the scenery.  We stopped into a bakery (well, because I can’t resist small town bakeries) and I was impressed and delighted by a whole display of Halloween breads.

 

 

I would love to learn how to do this, especially with Thanksgiving right around the corner.  Check out this funny Turkey Bread Sculpture.  I think small cornucopia or sheaves of wheat would be fun at each place setting. 

Here are directions for making bread sculptures.  This would make a great family activity, especially since the ingredients are not too expensive and the outcome would be so fun and memorable.

Hi Jill, That is neat. I have made to, a bear & turkey. The turkey didn't quite look like a turkey, :-). The Rhoades Bread Company has a cook booklet that shows how to make several shapes using their dough. I believe it's still free?!? you could use the ideals and your own bread. When I go to someones house the first time for dinner/supper, I always try to take a woven braid shaped into a ring shaped bread, and a salt & pepper set, filled of course, :-), as a gift. I have always wanted to try making a bread basket shape to hold the bread. Granna2
