No wonder Jill's recipes are so easy. She once owned a business that specialized in teaching kids to cook & bake.

Get in the Swim Menu

My friend (and former neighbor) Kelly asked me for some food and drink ideas for the party that marks the opening of her neighborhood’s private pool.  She is chairing the event for the first time.  The neighborhood is tight knit and the pool becomes the social center during the summer, especially for kids and moms.  I used to live in that neighborhood and loved to see the kids taking lessons and training for swim meets when I went past the pool.  The pool facility has a very nice clubhouse with areas for eating indoors and on a large patio.  Kelly plans to use the large grills for making hotdogs and hamburgers. She wanted ideas for unfussy salads and memorable desserts to kick off the swim season.  This should be a good mix of flavors for kids and adults alike.  Many of these recipes can be made in advance, and will hold up on a buffet.

Here you go, Kelly:

White Grape Cooler Punch

Tomato Pasta Salad

Greek Potato Salad

Melon-Cucumber Salad

This super-cute Flip Flop Cake (see a video tutorial)

Swimming Pool Cupcakes (made with Betty Crocker cake mix, of course!)

Lemonade Chex

Best wishes for a great party and good luck to this year’s Lionfish Swim Team!

Do you have an event coming up and need help with a menu?  I am happy to share ideas and make suggestions.  Post here about your event and I'll post a future blog about it.
