In the winter, I love spending afternoons making homemade bread to serve with thick, hearty soup or stew.

Go Bananas for Heart Health

I've always loved February!  There is more daylight, Valentine's Day is special and it's a shorter month.  These days, February appeals to me because it reminds me to take care of my heart.  And I've discovered a new product that I love--Banana Nut Cheerios.  Not only does it taste great (tastes like baked Banana Nut Bread), it's also a crunchy, fun recipe ingredient.

We developed several new recipes in the Betty Crocker Kitchens to introduce Banana Nut Cheerios.  We know how much people love Banana Nut Bread, so we decided to try Chocolate Banana Bread, a new twist on an old favorite. The cereal is used in the bread and also sprinkled on top.  Best of all, it's heart healthy.  I just baked a loaf at home last week.  I slice the whole loaf and store it frozen, then just take out a slice or two at a time for a morning or afternoon snack.   My kids love it, too.   Get the recipes and photos!
