Fall is a beautiful time of the year in MInneapolis and to prove it, this is the view from our test kitchens last week.

I was in the kitchen with Blake again, last weekend when we made a warm Double-Berry Crisp for dessert. This is a perfect dessert for a Valentine celebration, and so I decided that we would cut the recipe in half (it serves 9) for the three of us (Jack, Blake and me) and use individual heart-shaped oven-proof casseroles instead of one larger casserole.

Doesn’t this warm Rocky Road Cake, baked in a slow cooker, look so good you want to dig right into it? It did to me and so I reached in and scooped out a large spoonful.
Ahhhhhh—every warm bite was full of rich chocolate flavor with a moist and almost soufflé-like texture.

After missing two weekends at our cabin in northern Wisconsin because of our vacation in Jamaica, we were anxious to head “up north” again. I was happy to see our wild life surviving the sub-zero temps (it was -13°F on Saturday morning when we woke up).
