I'm invited to a Holiday Dessert Buffet next week after work. What dessert would you bring, if you wanted yours to be the one to disappear quickly and the one for which everyone asks for the recipe? I'm think thinking about making a tart that I can keep in my trunk all day long--which is one of my criteria for choosing a recipe. And since almost everyone likes chocolate and caramel, I don't think I can go wrong with this Salted Cashew Bittersweet Chocolate Tart.

A croustade is an edible container, often holding savory mixtures. This dessert version uses a pie crust as the container and it is filled with fresh summer blackberries, mixed with a little sugar and flour.
Here is the one I made for dinner guests at our cabin. We served it with homemade vanilla ice cream.

I love Valentine's Day and hearts. Jack and I were married on Valentine's Day, quite a few years ago. It's this time of year when I make heart-shaped foods and foods made red with: cherries, dried cranberries, tomatoes or any other way I can get the color red into a meal.
