Getting Ready for Fall: Once a Month Cooking
by jillbcooks 7/21/2009 8:13:00 AM

Today is the day: OAMC day.  That stands for Once-A-Month-Cooking.  It is a method for cooking a large quantity of food at one time and freezing it to use all month.  My goal is to fill the freezer to make the transition back to the fall routine easier.  We are watching what we eat more and want to avoid dining out.  OAMC also helps with portion control, since I plan to package meals in thoughtfully sized portions.  OAMC is a great solution for families, but can also be done for singles and couples, who may not feel like cooking every day from scratch.  When it comes to OAMC, i...

by Heidi at Betty Crocker 5/20/2009 11:19:00 AM

I like days like “Odd Day” and like to use them as teachable moments for kids.  A math teacher who delights in dates like today’s is even sponsoring a contest with a cash prize for creative celebrations of the date.  According to www.oddday.net, “Prizes will be distributed to those who involve the most people in the Oddest Parade of Odd Characters, write the best Odd Ode, or create the best Odd Celeb...

Crispy Chicken Fingers
by AndiatBettyCrocker 2/26/2009 10:03:00 AM

If you are spending more time cooking at home and less time eating out (even at fast food restaurants), I have an easy recipe for you to make for dinner—Crispy Chicken Fingers. I brought groceries for our dinner over to Jason’s and Katie’s home on Tuesday night because we were baby-sitting Blake. On my way over to their place, I picked up my 88-year old mother so she could join us for the evening. Great Grandma, Shirley, read to Blake while Jack and I prepared dinner. Here is a pa...
