Kristen with Veggies From Her Garden
There is nothing like a fresh tomato from the garden. They are sweet, juicy and have that wonderful garden-fresh flavor. We are eating them like apples around here because Kristen (Assistant Food Editor) is bringing some in, nearly every day, from her garden. She planted three kinds of tomatoes in the spring: Yellow Pear, Amish Paste and Brandywine. I tasted these BLT appetizers recently at a restaurant and I'm going to try to make them for guests who are coming up to our cabin this week. They can't be that difficult to make, can they? They start with bread brushed with some mayo, and then they are topped with lettuce, cooked bacon and cherry tomatoes. I think that the tomatoes were roasted in a slow oven to dry them up, just a little. Since Jack and I love BLT sandwiches in the summer for dinner, I'm sure these little "bites...
