Football Cupcake Pull-Aparts
by AndiatBettyCrocker 5/16/2011 12:23:00 PM

For a winning birthday party, start with a football cake. Blake, who loves theme parties (just like his grandma Andi), asked for a football cake for his 4th birthday party. When I showed this photo (of the cake below) to Blake, he liked it and asked me to make it for him. Football Cupcake Pull-Aparts...

These Cupcakes are for the Birds!
by AndiatBettyCrocker 11/15/2010 10:18:00 AM

Suet Cupcakes from Birdsandblooms.com To make suet cupcakes, melt 1 cup shortening and 2 cups chunky peanut butter over low heat, then mix in 5 cups cornmeal. Fill cupcake tins and top with your choice of nuts, birdseed or dried berries. Cool in the refrigerator. It was a dark and snowy Saturday at our cabin in northern Wiscons...

I am on vacation all week but I’ll leave you with some baking advice. Be sure to pick up our newest supermarket recipe magazine, titled Fall Baking. Kids and Cupcakes
by AndiatBettyCrocker 8/11/2010 8:17:00 AM

I decided to bring Dalmatian Cupcakes to a summer party, and making them became a family project for us. I baked the cupcakes and Papa Jack frosted them. Blake decorated the cupcakes. Blake (aka Spiderman) ate some of the decorations. Oops—don&...

Fondant for Summer Cupcakes
by AndiatBettyCrocker 5/26/2010 7:00:00 AM

Using fondant is a fun way to decorate the tops of cakes and cupcakes in the summer because it doesn’t melt like chocolate glazes will, isn’t as messy and soft as buttercream frosting and it doesn’t have to be stored in a refrigerator like cream cheese frostings. Our fondant recipe is easier to make than the traditional ones where you have to boil a water and sugar mixture to the soft-ball stage. Fondant for 24 Cupcakes 4 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows (fr...

A Spiderman Birthday Party with Cupcakes for Everyone
by AndiatBettyCrocker 5/19/2010 6:50:00 AM

Blake loves all things that are Spiderman, ever since last Halloween when he wore a Spiderman costume. And so to celebrate his 3rd birthday last weekend, Jason and Katie planned a Spiderman party for him. Blake got to wear a Spiderman costume again for his party and all of the party guests were asked to come in a “super heros” costume or T-shirt. The Spiderman jumping tent that Jason and Katie rented for the kids to play in, is in the background. That was a big hit, all afternoon (for some of the big kids too!). A week before his party, I baked and froze the cupcakes. On t...

My Cure for Spring Fever? Key Lime Cupcakes!!
by AndiatBettyCrocker 4/19/2010 1:51:00 PM

Hi, Kristen Here! I'm filling in for Andi while she's at a convention this week. I know we've only just met but, I have a confession to make... I love cupcakes. Cupcakes and I have a bit of a rocky history though. Just between you and me, I hated cupcakes when I was growing up. I didn’t understand why someone would want a store bought cupcake with really dr...

Pink Champagne Cupcakes
by AndiatBettyCrocker 3/22/2010 1:54:00 PM

When my friend, Betsy, told me she was getting married, I asked if I could host a wedding shower for her. I decided to call it a bachelorette party instead of a shower—not knowing exactly what a bachelorette party was all about. I started by sending evites (I found one with a pink feather boa) to her former co-workers.  Having done that, the color PINK became the theme for the party. I purchased a pink feather boa at a party store for her, and Betsy was a good enough sport to wear it throughout her party, even though we were at a restaurant. Another friend brought s...

Cupcakes and French Macarons
by AndiatBettyCrocker 3/5/2010 1:30:00 PM

I just read Jill’s blog about cupcakes and I agree, they are still hot! You can buy or make cupcakes for any occasion, including weddings. In fact, Kristen (our Assistant Food Editor) made cupcakes for her sister’s wedding and you can find the recipes for them in an upcoming (Aprill/May 2010) Betty Crocker supermarket magazine. But did you know that cupcakes may be in jeopardy of being the most popular sweet treat? &ldquo...
