Stuffed Peanut Butter Cookies
by AndiatBettyCrocker 5/9/2011 10:27:00 AM

Did you know stuffed cookies are a hot, new food trend? They are made by baking a cookie within a cookie. Don't believe me? You can check it out at Seriouseats.com.  For a really easy-to-make version of these cookies, Blake and I started  with Pillsbury° Simply° refrigerated peanut butter cookie dough.   Each package contains 12 unbaked cookies, about the size of hockey pucks....

Egg Salad Buns for Kids
by AndiatBettyCrocker 4/21/2011 6:34:00 AM

I’m always looking for recipes that my grandson (Blake) can make and here is one that uses hard-cooked eggs to help use some of the dyed eggs you may have made for Easter. Egg Salad Buns I found this simple recipe in the ...

Cinnamon Pull-Apart Bread
by AndiatBettyCrocker 2/17/2011 4:00:00 PM

After reading my post about a Bisquick mix version of Monkey Bread last month, my friend Ann (who is a teacher), sent me the following note: “In the little cookbook I sent you awhile ago, is the easy Monkey Bread recipe we use with our 6th graders. We use the biscuits in the pop can containers. The kids cut the biscuits into quarters. According to info I found, Monkey Bread got its name because the pieces are pulled off ind...

Double-Chocolate Strawberry Pancakes
by AndiatBettyCrocker 2/9/2011 9:48:00 AM

This is a winning recipe. In fact, it was the Grand Prize Winner, last year, in a Better with Bisquick Recipe Contest. Ever since I first tasted it, I’ve been planning to make it for breakfast at our cabin. So close to Valentine’s Day, it was the perfect breakfast for Blake and me to make together. I’ve occasionally written posts about cooking with our grandson, Blake, since he was about 1 ½ years old. Now he is 3 ½ years old, and&nbs...

Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies
by AndiatBettyCrocker 12/3/2010 6:46:00 AM

Blake (3 ½ years old) likes to page through recipe magazines. When the newest Betty Crocker supermarket magazine (Christmas Cookies) arrived at their home, Blake told his mother he wanted to make the Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies. Katie told Blake to call me so we could set up a date to make the cookies. Since there are only 7 ingredients in the recipe it’s really easy to make with kids. To make it even easier for us, I made the dough (just cookie mix, oil, water and an egg) and put it ...

Taco Burger Sliders
by AndiatBettyCrocker 9/2/2010 9:08:00 AM

Cooking is easier if everyone helps with a part of the meal. When Blake joined us at the cabin last weekend, I put him to work making tot-size burger patties, seasoned with crushed tortilla chips and taco sauce. We put some tortilla chips in a resealable plastic bag to make crushing easier. What 3-year old doesn’t like to crush, smash and stomp things? Then we mixed the crushed chips with taco sauce, salt, pepper and ground beef. This recipe for ...

Kids and Cupcakes
by AndiatBettyCrocker 8/11/2010 8:17:00 AM

I decided to bring Dalmatian Cupcakes to a summer party, and making them became a family project for us. I baked the cupcakes and Papa Jack frosted them. Blake decorated the cupcakes. Blake (aka Spiderman) ate some of the decorations. Oops—don&...

Pancake Fun
by AndiatBettyCrocker 7/8/2010 2:10:00 PM

Grandson Blake stayed with us for a couple of nights last week while his parents went to the hospital to bring home his new baby brother, Finn. As always when we get a chance to spend time with Blake, we find some time to cook. One morning we used a Tovolo Pancake Pen to make some fun pancakes. I whipped up a batch of Bisquick pancakes (see recipe below) in the bottle of the "pancake pen" and gave it a shake. Blake (with a little help from Jack) made pancakes in the shape of the letter B–the first ...

Chicken Pot Pies with Biscuits
by AndiatBettyCrocker 1/6/2010 11:36:00 AM

It's really cold here in Minnesota and it's supposed to snow again tonight. These are the nights when pot pies really "hit the spot" because they are a warm meal-in-one dish and very nourishing. Blake and his dad, Jason, helped make some individual Chicken Pot Pies with Biscuits for our dinner at the cabin one night, just before Christmas. Here they are cutting each biscuit into sixths.  Blake gets to put the biscuit wedges on top of each ...

Silicone Bakeware for a Little Cook
by AndiatBettyCrocker 9/30/2009 4:17:00 PM

It’s my birthday today and that reminds me of the birthday gift I got last year from Jason, Katie and Blake. It was a chef’s hat, apron and a silicone bakeware set —all for Blake. This was the perfect gift for me because it gave me another reason to cook with Blake. I s...
