Members of the Asian Heritage Network at General Mills were handing out small red envelopes, this morning when I came to work, with a chocolate coin inside. Also in the envelope was the following short note, “In East Asian societies, a red envelope is a monetary gift given during special occasions such as weddings or holidays, like Lunar New Year. The red color symbolizes good luck and keeps evil spirits away.”
