It’s my birthday today and that reminds me of the birthday gift I got last year from Jason, Katie and Blake. It was a chef’s hat, apron and a silicone bakeware set —all for Blake. This was the perfect gift for me because it gave me another reason to cook with Blake. I started cooking and baking with Blake when he was around 17 months old and we decorated Christmas cookies. We have been cooking and baking together ever since. Around the time he turned two years old, his mother sent me the following note, “Blake wants to be on our step stool next to us while we are cooking (dinner). The past few nights and he says, “No, Blake’s turn” when he wants to stir something.”
Now that he is over two years old, Blake and I still love cooking and baking together. One Sunday morning, he and I got up early at our cabin, and we baked some muffins (using Betty Crocker muffin mix) for breakfast while Papa Jack was still in bed. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I'll let my photos tell our baking story.

The only difficult thing about using the bakeware set was determining the doneness of the mini muffins, loaf and cake since they were all such differnt sizes. I took the muffins out of the oven first and then left the loaf pan and cake pan in the oven for an extra 7 to 8 minutes or so.

"Breakfast tastes better when I've made the muffins all by myself."
