CHOCOLATE Pasta
by AndiatBettyCrocker  2/4/2009 4:20:00 PM

As it gets closer to Valentine’s Day, I’m thinking about hearts, flowers, candy and chocolates—aren’t you? But are you thinking about chocolate pasta? Normally I wouldn’t be either, but I was given a package of it as a Christmas gift this year.

I knew that our staff would want to taste it, and so we cooked some up. I ws surprised at how chocolaty it tasted and it wasn’t sweet at all.

There were directions on the package for Savory Chicken Mole, Chocolate Pasta with Fruit Sauce and Razzle Dazzle Dessert Pasta.  We tried the last recipe and this is what it looks like—at least our version of the recipe.

We thought that the recipes were hard to follow and not well written so if you order some of this pasta, you will should really come up with your own ways to serve it.

If you are a chocoholic, this might be just what you are looking for. For the Chocoholics Divine Desserts website, click here.

I was given some Chocolate Linguini a couple of years ago, but even as an avowed chocoholic I couldn't warm up to it. My linguini didn't look as chocolate as yours though. It was a very very pale brown, almost like whole wheat pasta with dark brown flecks. Chocolate has a place in many things, but I've discovered pasta and tea are two places it shouldn't be invited.

Hey, give chololate pasta a chance... I bought some on a recent trip to Rome. Back at home, under instructions from the boutique vendor where I bought it, I cooked it up with a rich, simple Alfredo sauce (fresh butter, cream, parmesan, salt, pepper) and it was really wonderful!! I think it is addictive. This pasta was deep brown, thin-stranded chocolate fettucini, dried and in a cellophane package. It isn't sweet tasting. Maybe it's incorrect to think that chocolate is confined to sweet recipes. Now I'm looking for a fresh chocolate pasta recipe!
