While cleaning out old magazines, I found a 1993 ad with the recipe for One Bowl Brownies. The photo of the brownies in the photo looked moist, very chocolaty and chocked full of chopped walnuts (see below). I found this recipe just in time to add them to an assortment of bars that I was baking for my friend, Kathy— to help out with the food that she was serving to friends and relatives, the day after her daughter’s wedding. (It was a weekend full of memories!)

One Bowl Brownies
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) margarine or butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 ½ cups chopped walnuts
Heat oven to 350°F.
Microwave chocolate and margarine in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 minutes or until margarine is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.
Stir sugar into chocolate until well blended. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and walnuts until well blended. Spread in greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool in pan. Cut into squares.
Makes 24 fudgy brownies
I sprinkled these brownies with powdered sugar to add a little sweet topping without having to make frosting. I also made two other bars: Luscious Layer Bars and Dulce De Leche Bars (the ones the Heidi loves so much).
