Andi has held some impressive posts, including her current one, senior food editor
of best-selling recipe magazines and cookbooks. But then, look a little deeper and,
there, in the list of organizations that she's a member of is one called "Women
Who Really Cook."
Andi does really cook. She's done so her entire lifetime. "I started as a toddler
at my grandma's side," she says. "Now I'm teaching my grandson."
A Recipe for a Great Career
Something magical must have happened in Grandma's kitchen. Andi loved food so much
she went on to get a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of
Minnesota.
She didn't stop there. Continuing education courses brought her spatula to spatula
with some of the finest chefs in the world. "I'm passionate about cooking…and eating,"
she says. "In fact, I like to cook because I love to eat well."
The Doughboy Calls
After college Andi went on to work with Pillsbury, where she held a variety of positions
in the company's food service group including manager of the famous Pillsbury Bake-Off.
Now Andi is a senior food editor for best-selling Betty Crocker recipe magazines
and cookbooks. Her job is to develop hundreds of recipes each month – recipes that
reach hundreds of thousands of consumers. "People ask me all the time what my favorite
food is," she says. "Cheese. No, chocolate. No, cheese."
Back to the Basics
You can expect plenty of foods to show up in Andi's blog. Simplicity, too. Not just
because she's a food editor who's keenly aware of today's need for easy, tasty family
meals, but also because she really cooks.
