No need to hunt for green tomatoes at the market! Make these Fried Cherry Tomatoes with easy-to-find cherry tomatoes from the grocery store.

It’s a simple fact that most good things are made better with frying, and tomatoes are no exception. These Fried Cherry Tomatoes are inspired by the Southern classic: fried green tomatoes. Honestly, there’s nothing like a tart, juicy fried green tomato, but sometimes perfectly under-ripe tomatoes can be difficult to source, making sweet cherry tomatoes an easy-to-find alternative! The spicy yogurt dip is the perfect cool and fiery counterpart to the savory-sweet fried tomatoes. Just a few basic pantry and refrigerator staples come together to make this dish, which I think is the perfect complement to porch drinks and easy summer living.

To begin, wash and dry some cherry tomatoes. I like two varieties, because the more color the better! Use whatever cherry tomatoes you like best.

Next up, mix up the sauce. We’re doing this now so there’s plenty of time for the flavors to meld.

Back to the tomatoes! Mix the dry and wet ingredients in their respective dishes and get to coating. Double coat these tomato darlings for added crunch.

Now it’s time to fry. I like to lower the tomatoes gently into the oil with a mesh spider.

Once the tomatoes are golden and crisp, drain them on a paper towel-lined dish.

Viola! Serve these warm and crisp with the cool-and-spicy dip.
