Strawberry-Brown Butter Banana Bread

Posted By Stephanie Wise

Have your next brunch or shower stand out with these easy ideas for a fruity cocktail bar.

Banana bread was a serious weakness in my family’s house growing up. The minute we smelled even a whiff of my mom’s signature recipe baking away in the oven, we could think of nothing else but getting a bite of that special, swoon-worthy treat. To this day, the smell of fresh banana bread gives me comfort – and a growling stomach.

Now, in my own kitchen, I love taking my mom’s traditional recipes to my own family but with my own style added to the mix. Whether it’s a quick bread or a casserole, to me there’s nothing better than Mom’s home cooking and baking with an updated twist.

This recipe for strawberry-brown butter banana bread is a tasty new take on the classic quick bread. The combination of sweet strawberries and nutty brown butter add a modern flair to the taste of banana bread that gives just enough oomph to its flavor profile without taking away that comforting classic taste.

Brown butter is super easy to make, and it adds a delicious flavor dimension to almost any recipe that calls for butter. All you have to do is melt butter in a saucepan until it just turns a rich, golden brown. Then, quickly remove it from the heat and pour it through a sieve, if necessary, to remove any blackened bits.

And of course, nothing can beat the partnership of strawberries and bananas. My husband compared the taste of this bread to a fruity smoothie -- which makes sense, considering how chockfull of fresh fruit this recipe is! Whether you love traditional recipes or modern twists, this is one banana bread that anyone can enjoy.
