The slow cooker version of the Hot German Potato Salad does not work. I continually had to add water and then vinegar. Even with the low setting on the slow cooker, the potatoes were tender in 5-6 hours. You cannot leave the slow cooker unattended throughout. The "regular" recipe is far superior in taste and much less work.

Not quite like any German style potato salad I've ever had ... and I come from a family of Germans. However; if you put thinly sliced celery into it instead of seed, add some salt and pepper and a bit of onion powder, it's a nice quick 'fake' to serve in a jiffy.

We thought it was pretty blah, so I added Lowery's season salt, ranch dressing, and mozzerella cheese. Then it was a hit!

My mom makes a similar dish every year during the holidays...I just don't remember the celary seed...Anyway, its AWESOME!!! But it actually tastes better the next day...after all of the flavors have combined together...So, usually my mom makes it the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner...and then puts the whole dish in the oven to reheat it just before the meal...So, it makes a great do-ahead side dish!! Although it tastes great either way!!
