I made this cake for my daughter's 5th birthday. It turned out beautiful, & everyone was impressed. I used a full sized Barbie that had a painted on top so all I had to do was decorate a matching skirt. I used pink buttercream frosting and used the paper smoothing technique from the video.I loved that tip, and I think it saved me a lot of time and headache. I finished it off with crystal sprinkles. I decided to keep it simple since it was my first time making a cake of this nature. This video made making this cake so easy!

I made this cake for my daughters 2nd birthday party that was in Disney's Princesses. I used yellow frosting and used a Belle barbie doll. She was so excited and it turned out beautiful. It was actually really easy if you follow the video.I made 2 yellow cake layers and 2 chocolate cake layers to have variety of cake. I used the Wilton brand frosting in the can I purchased at the store. It worked very well because of the consistancy, it is stiffer and easier to work with than regular frosting. Thank you for the How-to videos!

I'm so glad those cakes have made a come-back. My grandmother used to make cakes just like that for the three of us girls when we were little, and they were just as beautiful as this one is. Thanks for sharing the new tips!

I made this cake for my neice and my hubby helped out. She was so excited when she saw this cake she thought we bought it! I told her Anutie Ruthie & Uncle Frank made this for her. It was so simple to make & decorate! We did use a little more frosting than it required but all in all it turned out great! Thank you so much! This was the best experience, and the most special birthday my neice ever had!

Great cake- I made 2- bought a cinderella doll and dyed the icing blue-perfect- I also hot glued candles in holders into the dolls hands instead of a wand and it was perfect because my daughter was turning two. I did use an extra can of frosting. Thanks

Wanted to write and say thank you!!I made this for my daughter in October for her birthday and it was easier than I thought. I also made one for a friend of mine and changed the colors it was even easier the second time. Only problem I thought there was is the video helped but left out alot of stuff you have to do like triming the sides to get it even, but it turned out GREAT both times just takes time to perfect a little more thanks again!!!!!!

this cake turned out great! i'm not very good with cakes, but it worked well. the cake was super moist and the assembly was really easy! i used a rolled fondant, though i rolled it too thin, so i had some cracking, but it still looked great. as my 3-year old kept saying, "it's so bu-tiful!"

MY GRANDMA HAS MADE A TRADITION OF MAKING THIS CAKE FOR ALL US GIRLS 1ST BIRTHDAYS! UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE STATIONED IN GERMANY AND SHE COULDN'T BE WITH US FOR MY DAUGHTERS 1ST BIRTHDAY. SO I CAME ACROSS THIS CAKE AND DECIDED TO MAKE IT MYSELF. IT WAS SO EASY AND EVERYONE RAVED ABOUT THE CAKE. WHAT AN ADORABLE CAKE!

this is a great cake but only one problem the recipe, it calls for (2)8 inch cake layers and 1 bowl layer. the video shows (3) 8 inch cake layers, so my cake is not as tall, more of my doll is showing.
