This is a favorite at my family gatherings. I also found it to be too salty so I only use 1 tblsp. of the taco seasoning, & I use sour cream instead of cream cheese. I sometimes sprinkle chopped scallions on the top with the cheese, tomatoes & olives. This is best when made the day ahead to let the flavors blend. Just wait until serving to add the lettuce & toppings.

This has been around for a long time and still the best. You can zip it up a bit also...so use your imagination!! I use fritos scoops with it...great dip!!

Not the greatest in the world. The refried bean and seasoning mix was to thick and had a powdery feel to it when eaten. I had a couple of people coment that the cream cheese was to much and maybe next time to use sour cream. I thought it would have been better with all the good reviews.

This dip was okay. What ruined it for me was that the bean mixture was salty. I don't remember what brand taco seasoning I used, but I'm guessing that was the culprit. Next time I will buy a low sodium taco mix. I made it for a potluck at work. People ate it and said it was good. But for me, with the combination of a tortilla chip- which is usually salty too, it was just too much.

I've been making variations of this dip on and off for years and always end up coming back to it. Its always a hit. Because the presentation is half the impact, I make this dip in a clear glass deep dish pie plate. It also helps to keep everything from going over the side.

Really enjoyed this bean dip. I did add 1/2 lb. ground beef, browned with onions to the beans prior to the layering process. Several compliments! Thanks!! Found this on 2008 calendar, trying these receipes ")

This was really good! I made this for Cinco de Mayo and we had it for lunch. There were 3 of us and I used baked tostito's scoops with it. We still have half of it left. This makes a pretty large platter. Great party food, would feed a lot of people as a dip.

I made this recipe for the first time recently to take to a get-together for my husband's family. Not having been in the family for very long I wasn't sure just how well it would be received since I don't know their likes and dislikes. I knew my husband would like it, so I was hoping that they would too. It was a BIG hit! They all liked it and were asking me for the recipe..of course I told them that I got it from my Betty Crocker recipe box. I highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking for an easy to fix appetizer that can easily turn into a meal.

BIG HIT! This was preferred over Artichoke dip. I made this a day ahead, sealed, stored in fridge. Used whipped cream cheese for easier spreading. REMEMBER: presentation is the half of it...make sure your colored foods are layered & not together.

This recipe is a hit! I use half cream cheese and half sour cream. I put a Hidden Valley spicy fiesta packet in the cream cheese mixture instead of taco seasoning in the beans. It always disappears at my get togethers. Sometimes I omit the lettuce, if there are leftovers for snacking later, the lettuce gets too mushy.

I am a ultra beginner-level cook, but this is something I can make easily and have it turn out very well. I use vegetarian refried beans and also add in a layer of guacamole and sour cream. I have also substituted sour cream for the cream cheese. Also a can of diced tomatoes with green chiles or jalapenos works nicely in lieu of salsa.

I made this for Christmas Eve snacking and it was a big hit. I used a spicy taco seasoning mix and hot salsa and it had great flavor! Pretty on the plate, too.

The taco seasoning added to the beans adds the extra flavor that makes this dip a winner!!
