Comments: To: Doodah
You can buy a cake leveler at almost any store like Walmart, then for the frosting in between its easier to pipe the frosting drawing circles or spiraling towards the center of the layer, dont start too close to the border or else your frosting will flood over the layer.
The cake itself is delicious but perhaps its better when its served in small one bite sizes that can be paired along with mini pastries. |

Comments: I baked this cake for Christmas and I thought it was delicious. Unfortunately, my husband felt like the cake tasted like a pound cake with red food coloring. I don't think I will be baking this cake again. |

Comments: I made this for a Memorial Day party that I went to. It turned out great except one of my layers started to crumble and took the rest of the cake down with it. But it worked out because I ended up frosting the whole thing (to keep it together) and you couldn't tell one of the layers broke. Also, I used one vanilla frosting and one cream cheese frosting...it was AMAZING! Everyone went back for seconds and I didn't have any to take home with me. Definitely making this again but I don't know if I'll cut it into 4 layers, maybe just keep it 2 and frost it. |

Comments: Not as good as the real Waldorf Astoria version, but it's yummy. VERY rich so take small pieces! Too much in one sitting will upset tummies! I love the frosting (I mixed the ganache mixture with buttercream icing and it was good that way too.) |

Comments: My 6 year-old daughter and I made this cake. The red food coloring was super fun for her. The cake was good, but mine NEVER looks like the picture (my lack of skill, nothing to do with the recipe). Took the leftovers to work and it was devoured immediately. By the way, how does one get the cake to look like the picture?????? |

Comments: This is a great recipe!! I still get requests for this when I made it over a year ago. The icing is what makes this cake so great. And it's so easy to make, that I use it on a lot of my cakes or cupcakes! It's always a hit! |

Comments: This cake is so moist and delicious.. One of the variations I made was to add applesauce in place of the oil.. then I baked it in a 9x13 pan. When it was cooled I just spread lite cool whip on top and sliced strawberries.. It was the hit of the pot luck and people were begging for the recipe. |

Comments: I made this cake for this past Christmas after making it from scratch last Christmas - what an incredible moist and delicious cake. The presentation was beautiful and everyone loved it. I never finish cake but with this one I absolutely had to finish it to the last morsel. My children who are not big cake eaters loved it so much they actually invited friends in to try it; I was amazed at their reaction.
Without a doubt this is beyond better and much easier than making it from scratch; it's on my list forever.
Thank you for a great Christmas presentation at the dessert table. |

Comments: Instead of using toothpicks to cut the cakes in half, I use a long strand of sewing thread. Place the cake on a plate, take the thread in both hands and pull it tight, but not too tight to break it. Then line it up on the side of the cake where you want to cut in half and gently pull the thread toward you. This will cut the cake and then you can lift the top layer off and put your filling in. It works wonders and works better than using a knife. |
