1: easily burned 2: very flat they were very doughy when i took them out of the oven so i put them in an extra 2 minutes and they got burnt. NOT the best cookies i have ever had! they were also dry even when u dont melt the butter to long. i suggest a different recipe

The cookies were dry, but ok. I'm not experienced, so I melted my butter way too long. That definitly made them flat.

Husband likes to bake these. He has become quite popular at church because he brings them for pot-lucks and bake sales often. Everyone begs for the recipe. His advice: Pull butter out of the refrigerator the night before you plan to bake. Don't soften cold butter in the microwave. Use the Gold Medal All Purpose flour. Don't use the self-rising flour short cut. Use a jumbo sized egg and expect the dough to be a bit dry. Omit the nuts.

OMG; after reading the reviews I did decide to add the extra egg and tsp. vanilla and not the nuts. Used my mellon baller to scoop and baked for 9 minutes They were perfect; not too hard and not too soft. But I think I am going to put the nuts in the remaining dough. This will definately be a keeper.

Really dry, I did the same with the extra egg and the tsp. of vanilla and then it was ok. I don't understand why there is so little butter in this recipe?

This recipe is waaaay to dry! I don't know how any good cooks could even rate it pass 3. I added more butter & vanilla till the consistency was what it should have been. If they put a decent recipe up here no one would have to buy her (Betty Crockers)packaged cookie mixes. I thought it was too good to be true

What an easy recipe. I did add 1 more egg and the tsp of vanilla. I left out the nuts. Otherwise did as directed and they turned out great. I used a cookie dough scoop and they held their shape just fine. Dough was not stiff. Small and very puffy. Kids loved them.

I did what I read alot of other bakers did to the recipe...I added an extra egg and a tsp. vanilla extract. I disreguarded the nuts as we do not like nuts in our baked goods. I should have replaced them for oatmeal or something becuase they turned out very flat. They had a good flavor, though! I will make them again ofcourse, just mess around with it a little!

One other thing - I used half semi sweet chips and half milk chocolate chips for an interesting flavor. Once again, these are definitely worth making - over and over and over!

OMIGOSH - These are AMAZING!!!!! I am a baker. I bake cakes, cookies, pies, bars, wedding cakes - you name it, I bake it. BUT, I have neveer been able to find a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe that not only looks amazing but tastes amazing. THIS IS IT!!! I added an extra egg, and I added 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract. I also ground the walnuts up finely because I don't really like nuts in my cookies. This gave them an amazing texture! This recipe is the ONLY recipe I will ever use for chocolate chip cookies again! Thank you so much for posting this!!!!!! (If I could give it 10 "spoons" to rate, I would!!!!!)

I've cooked these many times and everyone that I hand them out to REALLY enjoys them and asks for more. It's a personal favorite of mine and I will continue to cook them.

I tried these and I also found the dough to be very dry and hard to handle. I added another egg as well as a teaspoon of vanilla and these baked up to be the best cookie I have even eaten.

This is THE BEST recipe!! If you like 'em chewy, underbake them slightly. Cook a little longer for crunchy cookies.

Worried about sugar for you and your kids. Instead of sugar use Splenda Sugar Blend for baking. Instead of 3/4 cup ugar use 1/4 cup +2 tablespoons sugar blend. Same for the brown sugar. You can't tell the difference about the sweetness. I have diabetes, so I change up the sugar so that my family and myself can eat and enjoy the recipes.

I use this recipe with one change; we hate nuts, so I substitute 1 cup old fashioned oats and make them oatmeal chocolate chip. So very yummy and not too wet (as would happen if you just omit the nuts). I've been using this as my one and only chocolate chip cookie recipe for many years. It's the best!

I was really excited about this recipe after reading all of the reviews. However, after mixing all of my ingredients (along w/ 1 tsp. vanilla) the mix was extremely dry. I double checked all of the ingredients but the mix was not staying together (it was the consistency of bread crumbs) at all unless I smashed it between my hands, and it still started to fall apart on the cookie sheet. After baking that batch they did not taste very good. So I added 1/4 more butter and 1 more egg into the mix. That batch turned out wonderfully!!

I've tried a couple of others but always end up back to this one. It has never failed me in the 30 years of making them.

These cookies were great! I had added some vanilla also just in case. I had too much dough left so made a cookie cake with it. It turned out really good but I had to cook it a bit longer!
