I make this every year at Christmas for dessert! My family LOVES it because it's a nice warm, comforting, yummy end to a beautiful meal. I add an extra can of apples and probably double the spices because we like it 'spicy and saucy' in my family. I also serve it with a very luxurious French vanilla ice cream. ENJOY!!!!!!

I followed the recipe exactly as stated (including canned pumpkin and not pie mix) and I have to agree with other member reviews...it was definitely lacking flavor. I think another can of apples and more spice would help round it out. I'm going to try this again with raisins and more cinnamon and nutmeg. My husband suggested canned pineapple. I think it makes for a nice base to experiment/improvise.

I have been looking at this recipe and there are a few things Betty Crocker left out when baking a cake in a crock pot. 1st: lay 2 paper towels over the top of the crock pot so the vaporization will not fall back into the cake, if you don't your cake will not cook correctly. 2nd: make SURE you are using canned pumpkin, NOT CANNED PUMPKIN PIE FILLING. The recipe will not turn out like it is supposed. I know that some of you cooks didn't look close enough to find the correct canned pumpkin,THEY CANNOT BE SUBSTITUTED FOR EACH OTHER !!!!! In my store the two pumpkins are not even in the same section, so before you label the recipe as horrible, go do your homework and make sure you had the correct pumpkin!!!!! I have made this recipe a lot and horrible it is not. I know some people think they are great cooks, but cannot read recipes. Honestly I think some people would gripe if they were hung by a new rope and you know who you are!!!

I made this tonight, and just used 3 eggs instead of the egg substitute (I don't like artificial things, anyway, so it was no biggie for me). The pumpkin cake part was too thick. Next time, I'll cut that part in 1/2, so that it evens things out. Other than that, I liked it.

My husband loves pumpkin and apple so I thought this would be the perfect dish but he was NOT impressed. I will try it again but with 2 cans of apples and more spices. He complained it was to dry so I hope more apples will fix that.

I made this last night, talk about yummy!!! It has a wonderful flavor. I did not have apple pie filling, so I just sliced apples and mixed cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice; cooked it down and used that. It was wonderful, we are looking forward to this again.

This was easy and so yummy! I used peaches by mistake the first time I made this and it turned out fantastic! I brought the crock pot to work and cooked it there during the morning. My co-workers were enticed by the delicious aroma and were my guinea pigs for this recipe. They all loved it especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I made it the second time with the apple and I have to admit I prefer the peaches!! I will try cherries next!

I thought it was super easy, but a bit bland. I will try it again with more spice in the pumpkin mix. I used real eggs (1 egg per 1/4 cup substitute) and it worked great.

This was real easy and fun. I added some of the extras as suggested and it still needed something. Some sugar, maybe... Neighbors loved it but I threw most of it out.

Simply great but, I read several reviews and took their advice. I used carmels on the bottom, topped with 2 cans of apples, and used extra McCormick Pumpkin Spice, nutmeg and cinnamon to really enhance the taste and delightful smell. Served this at our family Thanksgiving and their was none left over. We served it with creamy smooth Turkey Hill vanilla ice cream...yummy!

I did not like this dessert at all. It was very bland and was not a hit at my Thanksgiving dinner. I had to throw 90% away.

I took the advice of others and used two cans of pie filling. %0d%0a%0d%0aIt took at least 3 hours to fully cook through, but the smell is wonderful as it's cooking.%0d%0a%0d%0aIt was a big hit at work. I will make it again, maybe adding some nuts as well.

This is a good dessert but I will change a few things the next time I make it. Otherwise I would have given it a higher rating. First of all, I used real eggs instead of egg product and it turned out fine. It took about 4 large eggs to make 3/4 cup. I should have followed the advice to use 2 cans of apple pie filling, so I'll do that next time. I also wonder if a can of whole berry cranberry sauce would be good in this? The cake was good, but a little bland--the spices didn't really stand out. I would add a bit more in the way of nutmeg, and maybe some cloves as well, just to give it some spiciness.

I tried this recipe and found it awful. I used a high setting on my slow cooker and after 4 hours, it still was mushy. It tasted awful and I threw the whole thing out.

Everyone Loved this recipe but me!!! I just did not care for it!! It needs something else!! I think this would be awsome as chocolate instead of pumpkin!! Or something like that!! But all in all it was not bad!!

This is the easiest and best dessert! I used 2 cans of apple pie filling per other reviews and threw in some caramels with the apples. It is actually light & delicious.
