Comments: The batter did not pour out, but I did use a spatula to spread it in the pan. I used (2) partially peeled Granny Smith apples (cut in eighths) and slightly increased the amount of cinnamon. It was an absolute delight. I will make this again! |

Comments: I rated this on both taste, preperation time and easy to adjust. I doubled the recipe and used a regular size cake pan to bake it in. I increased the amount of Cinn. and I pushed the apples down into the batter. There were some showing on top. This helped the apples from becoming leathery as they do sometimes when baked in a dessert as this. This had a wonderful flavor and the family said a "YES" to making it again. Never read the reviews....like finding out for myself. I loved it in all ways! |

Comments: I made this with MacIntosh and Cortland apples I had frozen. (Sliced, treated with Fruit Fresh and put in bags, then froze.) I didn't know how this would work as never did it this way before and the desert turned out delicious. The apples were a little brown from exposure, but the taste was the same. My husband loved it. |

Comments: I have made this a few times and every time it comes out perfect. This is too easy to throw together, and it has the house smelling yummy. It may not look like the photo, but I am not a professional food photographer and nothing I make every looks like the picture. |

Comments: I loved this & so did my entire family! all I can think about the bad reviews & it not looking like the picture is that they must not have turned it out onto a plate while it was still hot to get the melted caramel effect on the top of the cake as seen in the picture. (This was never mentioned in the recipe). Mine was perfect. a little dollop of whipped cream on top, & it really was delicious & so easy!I am not sure how it will taste tomorrow cooled, but I figure I can always microwave it. Will definitely make again & again. Thanks for a great recipe! |

Comments: I was worried by some of the negative reviews this received but I just made it and served it for dessert. It turned out beautifully. I may have added a scant more water and apples than it called for. It turned out just as I had hoped; plenty of delicious caramel sauce and the cake was sweet and moist, kinda like a dumpling. I wish there was more! Yum :P One tip I have is use a silicone baking pan like Demarle to get all the gooey goodness and for easy clean up! |

Comments: This recipe was great! It was easy to make and oh so good. The girls at work loved it and wanted the recipe. I was asked to bring it to future events. A good thing to make if you have guests drop in. |

Comments: I dont know what these people did wrong..I have made a chocolate 'pudding' cake similar in idea right down to the boiling water so I guess I knew what to expect.Mine turned out fine.It does not make alot of sauce.Very few of these type do.I dont know if they expected a thick layer or a big amount like you would get in a restaurant(which they pour from a bottle).I know what I put in so I basically knew what to expect taste wise.I thought it was ok.I suggest having a jar of smuckers nearby if this doesnt meet your expectations.I dont know about others but I do not expect recipes made from bisquick to look like something from food network. |

Comments: This recipe was not at all successful for me~~ I made it exactly as directions and the first part of 'mixing the sugar together then adding the milk until blended~~ the POUR into 9" square'~~~My batter was so dry and sticky that I had to scrape from bowl into pan and spread out!!! Smelled good baking, but when it came out of oven~~ where was the caramel sauce?? Dried up and had to scrape from the bottom!! And I served this for a 'family' dinner with 'new' guests!! So dissapointing~~ probably won't make again!! Too bad, it is such a simple recipe!

Comments: This recipe cooked up great and looked just like the picture. I love the carmel sauce that cooks up! Also.... I buy the presliced apples which makes the recipe super fast and easy to make. |

Comments: I have made this many times and my husband loves it. Not sure what you are having a problem with. Are you pouring the boiling water on top? I do use 3 apples as I like more fruit, but mine does not turn out doughy and the caramel sauce on the bottom is delish. Someone mentioned 'putting the crumb mix on top and bottom'. The bisquick does not come out crumbly. It should be a spreadable dough. Great recipe! (also, I diced my apples for easy cutting) |

Comments: I agree with everyone else who has stated that the dessert and the picture shown are not even close. But I followed the directions exactly and it is a super good desert. Even easier than expected. The hardest part was cutting the apples. Good luck, and happy eating. |

Comments: I gave this recipe a 1 because it does make an edible dessert. However, that dessert looks NOTHING like the picture and DOESN'T have an appealing taste or texture. It IS cake-like & tastes doughy. I used 4 apples because 2 would not cover the 9x9 pan. I increased the cinnamon a bit & added a sprinkle of fresh ground nutmeg. The recipe must be served warm to prevent the caramel sauce on the bottom from becoming gloppy. I am an experienced baker - this recipe is marginal. I don't think the picture matches this recipe & I don't think this recipe was tested before being published. It would work much better as a caramel apple upside down cake by putting the apples on the bottom of a buttered pan. Batter woule be better if made more like a cake with an egg & vanilla & perhaps a little melted butter. |

Comments: This was SO good & SO easy to make with all ingredients I had on hand. I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about--they must not be following the recipe properly, because I didn't change a thing & it came out absolutely delicious & looked EXACTLY like the picture. It's definitely a keeper. |

Comments: This didn't look anything like the picture! It was cake-like on the bottom, parched apples on top, no yummy carmel. I cut the sugars down to 1/2 cup each and increased the apples to four, as other reviewer's suggested. Maybe that made the difference. I was very disappointed. |

Comments: The apples on top were chewy, dry and unattractive. There was not enough sauce on the bottom to do any good. Had to add some caramel sauce from a bottle. I would not recommend this recipe. Who thinks up this stuff? |
