Maybe it was me, but these didn't taste like brownies at all. They weren't sweet enough. I usually use self rising flour and didn't this time as suggested in the recipe note. I probably won't try again. They were really pretty though!

This recipe is so easy. I make a double or triple batch and keep the dough in the freezer to use as needed. I bake them the least amount of time, I watch them carefully and the cookies come out really chewy. I am asked for the recipe everywhere I take the cookies.

These cookies have been a favorite of my kids since 1978. It is not Christmas without them. We may be on diets but we will sacrifice other "goodies" to leave room for these!! Bake different batches, some I add chocolate chips and pecans, and boy, they are great!

I'd forgotten this cookie for years. I nostalgically picked up a copy of 'The Cookie Book' in a book store and the memories came flooding back. I love this recipe. It's back in our Christmas traditions!

My grandmother used to make something similar to this recipe and then the Betty Crocker Cooky Book was published. This recipe became the revised recipe. They are always baked by either my mom, my sister or myself every Christmas. It is as much a staple as cranberries and turkey. Thanks Betty!

I've been baking these cookies for around 40 years and my family thinks they are the greatest.

I bake this recipe but I also put in walnuts it really makes the cookies good -- also for the holidays mix the powdered sugar with green and red food coloring - makes the cookies very festive

Oh my gosh are these good! My mother and I loved them and will definitely make these again... They are like brownies in cookie form. I baked them a couple minutes longer but that might be our oven. WOW!

We made these for Santa and Christmas. I am not a big choco-holic, but I think I ate most of these cookies! They were delicious!! Can't wait to make these again!

I agree with the reviewer below who said, "It isn't Christmas without Chocolate Crinkles." That is SO true. My Mom has been making these cookies since we were little kids and I remember seeing the recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook in the early 80's. I've since carried on the tradition of making them at Christmas for my family and friends and they're ALWAYS a huge hit!!! Pretty easy to make and beyond delicious!!!

Yummy!!! This is the first time I ever made these and appreciate reading what others said. I cut the mess down by using a small ice cream scoop and used a knife to press the dough into the scoop, then dropped the dough in a small zip lock bag with powdered sugar. I zipped the bag and rolled the dough around working the ball up to the top of the bag. Unzipped the bag and a perfectly round ball of dough covered with powdered sugar. My hands stayed clean and unsticky except a little powdered sugar on the finger tips which easily wiped off and every cookie was exactly the same size.

Delicious, and so pretty! At first I neglected to follow the directions and was rolling the dough into balls before dropping them into the powdered sugar, what a mess! Then I followed the directions and it went much faster and a lot less messy. The office has already eaten up the whole batch!

I think there may be one mistake in the directions. %0d%0a%0d%0aThe recipe says to drop teaspoons of dough in the powdered sugar, then roll them into balls. I found it better to roll a teaspoon of dough between my palms into balls a little smaller than an inch across, then drop the balls in the sugar, then roll them between my palms a second time to get off the excess sugar and to make the remaining sugar stick. %0d%0a%0d%0aIt's a little messy, but the cookies came out just like those in the photo.

I just happened to find this recipe while looking for something else. And I am so glad I did. This will now become a regular in my cookie recipe list. I sent them to my husband deployed in Afghanistan. They were a BIG hit. They stay soft, almost like a little brownie. Plus they have a distinct look that makes them favorable to cookie trays.

Fairly easy to make, and tasty, if not the best I've tried.

These cookies are the best!! I don't think there is a chritmas I remember when my Mum didn't make them from her Betty Crocker cookbook. Now with a family of my own I make them every year as well. Enjoy!!

I started using this recipe almost 30 years ago from my mothers old battered "Cookie Book". I make sure I have copies of this recipe because everyone who tries them asks for it! Its a winner!
