I just finished making my variation of this salad and it is superb!!! The only thing I changed was the pasta and used the bow-ties I had on hand. But, I used green onions instead of the purple ones, as they are more mild in flavor and don't overpower the taste and when I add cukes to a salad I always fully peel it and scoop out the seeds. It helps me avoid heartburn. I used all the other ingredients called for however I had to use dried oregano, altho the basil was fresh. The other thing I did was to add sea salt to the pasta just after dumping it into the dressing and before stiring. About 1/2tsp is all and a twist of fresh ground black pepper. This is a keeper and I will be eating it for the next few days!!

I am not a pasta salad fan, but I love this recipe. It is quick and easy and always a party favorite. The recipe makes a large batch so I don't make it often... too much for a family of 3.

I wanted a salad that could sit out and people wouldn't worry about how long it was in the sun. I found this one and had to try it. 2 picnics later, there was barely enough to take home from each batch. I made some variations to it, from the other review some thought it was bland, I used Hunt's Garlic & Herb spaghetti sauce, left out the mushrooms (don't like them) and added red peppers additional garlic and italian seasonings. Never used fresh basil before, I should have added more, it was a bonus to taste it in the salad. It's a colorful salad, for more color, you could leave the skins on the cukes or add green pepper. I will make this again!

It was my first dish I ever made for a family potluck and it was a hit! Everyone enjoyed it and kept asking me what was in it. Very yummy!

Everyone loved this! The tomato sauce with the dressing is just a different touch that set this apart. I did use the zesty italian dressing, left out the mushrooms, and added broccoli. Very yummy! Made a great lunch by itself the next day too.

I thought this recipe was great... the vegetables are what made it a success. I will probably experiment with a stronger dressing flavor...maybe a zesty italian. overall though, this was a yummy pasta salad!

I had never heard of this dressing before, but was pleasantly surprised the first time that I tasted it. I made this salad for our 4th of July picnic, and everyone loved it. I have made it again since then, and it is most definitely one of our family favorites.

Pairing tomato sauce and oil/vinegar salad dressing was a nice touch but this salad lacked flavor. I suggest adding parsley, salt, pepper and garlic, at the very least.

This was amazing! Everyone absolutely loved. However, I did change two things... I put no olives, changed the pasta to multicolored, and added broccoli. I have never gotten so many compliments. One person even said it tasted exactly how his mom makes it!

Comments:
I like to use tri-colored rotini in this recipe. I often make this pasta salad for picnics and cookouts, my husband just loves it. Family and friends always comment on how good it is. Once people try this pasta salad I usually have to give out the recipe.
