One suggestion: Use Twizzlers Tropical Fruit Twists for the straps. I used toothpicks to hold them in place. Super cute!

This cake was the hit of my Labor Day BBQ and it was so easy to make. The little hint to freeze the cake before cutting out the design was wonderful, it cut so easily.

This cake was a big hit for me also! I am new to cake decorating as I have creativity in my heart, but can't seem to get it out...lol This was helpful. It was for my SNL B-Day and she loved it. Everyone thought it was great. Will definitely make it again. I need more tools of the trade though. I think I've found my hobby!

I made this cake for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loved it!! I crushed graham crackers to lay the cakes on for a sand effect and made chocolate seashells to lay around it. It turned out perfect!

I made and frosted this cake with my 9 year old granddaughter. It was a joyous experience for both of us. We watched the vidio together before starting the project. The directions were clear and concise. We made it exactly according to the directions. It was a big hit at her birthday party.

This cake was a big hit at my 4th of July BBQ. The only problem I had was that there were crumbs flaking off from cutting out the flip flops, so that made the icing harder to put on the sides. Need to figure out how to made that easier to do. Despite that, no one else seemed to notice it and everyone thought they were adorable!

This was a great idea! I made it for my daughters 11th birthday, and two of her friends already plan on having the same for their parties. I covered a cake board with blue saran wrap, ground up graham crackers for the sand and used a small beach ball and shells around the cake. I wrote her name in the graham cracker sand. It was easy to do. Now that I have made it, I can think of more designs for the flip flop!

I made these for our marriage ministry Luau. They made for a beautiful centerpiece on the buffet table. I used a half sheet pan and my husband's flip-flops for the size(served 40 couples). One flip flop was chocolate cake with a chocolate mouse fill, the other was a lemon cake with cream cheese fill. I used red licorice for the straps and decorated the boards th look like sand and oceans

I made these for my daughter's 12th b-day. They turned out great, very easy. We took shortbread cookies and ground them up a little chopper to look like sand. We placed the cookied sand on a tray and placed the flip flop cakes on top and it looked as if they were laid in the sand at the beach. We even set some sea shells and starfish on the tray too. Very easy and very impressive to your guests, a real winner!

Not only is this cake delicious, but it looks fabulous. It is not for all occasions, but one can make it a few times per year. I am already planning to make another one in a month.

This cake is so cute! I made it for my step daughters 21st bday and my mom's retirement party. I used Skittles because it fit the color scheme better than M&M's. Looked cute and worked but I advised people to pick them off since I didn't think it would taste so great with cake and frosting. Be sure to store in a cool place or the fruit roll up straps will start to droop.

I Decided to do something special for all my nieces and nephews on there birthdays. I made this for my Niece Hannah's 3rd birthday and she loved it, as did the rest of the kids, the family and my friends. My friend Kacie wants me to make her a cake now on her birthday. Even my bf thought it turned out awesome (lol thinks he was impressed)

I made this cake for my daughter's 19th birthday party. She and all her friends loved it! I was surprised at how easy it was to make, my 11 year old son helped me. The only suggestion I can give is that I goofed and used skittles candy for the sides of the flip flops instead of m&m's...NOT a good idea. haha

This cake was so easy and fun to make. My 10 yo daughter and I made it for grandma's birthday. It was a hit with everyone at our greenhouse. We put the flip flops on a round pizza pan and surrounded them with crushed oreo cookies to make it look like dirt. Fabulous!!!

I made this cake for my mother-in-law (who loves flip-flops) and it was a HUGE hit. Easy, beautiful and fun. Would do it again. (P.S. I purchased some adorable flip-flop candies at the Hallmark Card Store in our area. And, twizzlers worked the best for the straps!)

My daughter and I made this cake for a 10 year old girl that we adore dearly. This cake not only lit her face up , it won the whole crowd over. People took pictures and to this day, they are still talking about this cake.
