How to Make Easy Guacamole

Making homemade guacamole is easier than you think. Here are a few tricks to make it in minutes!

Slicing an avocado for guacamole can be intimidating if you don’t know how to do it. They don’t call the avocado the “Alligator Pear” for nothing. Its rough looking exterior makes most people unwilling to wrestle with it.

If you have a ripe avocado and a sharp knife you will surely be the victor. Just follow my step-by-step instructions. You’ll be serving up a winning Mexican treat in no time.

1) Begin with a ripe avocado.  Pick one that has a little give to it.  It shouldn't be too soft or too hard but "just right"!

2) Cut the avocado lengthwise continuously all the way around the pit.

3) Hold the avocado with two hands and twist slightly in opposite directions to separate the halves and to expose the pit.

4) Once you have the avocado in two halves, tap the pit with the sharp end of the knife so that it gets stuck to the knife. It’s safer to do this on a cutting board. Be careful!

5) Once the pit is stuck on the knife, twist the knife and your other hand in opposite directions. The pit will easily dislodge. Remove the pit from the knife with a kitchen towel. Scoop out the flesh with a spoon.
