With 2 young children, I know that having several easy, kid-friendly cookie recipes on hand is a must. Whether we are all having an afternoon cookie craving, or if I’m looking for something to do with the kids, an easy cookie recipe will often save the day. 

And it doesn’t get much easier than these cookies. Just 4 ingredients – a cake mix, an egg, frozen whipped topping and powdered sugar – come together to make cookies that both kids and adults will love! 

You will need a lemon cake mix, an egg, frozen whipped topping at room temperature and powdered sugar.

In a bowl, combine the cake mix, egg and whipped topping. The mixture will be pretty sticky and stiff, but don’t worry – this is normal!
Since the dough is so sticky, it’s best to wet your hands to make the balls. Make them about a tablespoon of the dough each.
Drop them into the powdered sugar and roll them around a bit. And then place them on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake until the edges are browned, and you already have delicious cookies!

    • 1 box Betty Crocker™ SuperMoist™ lemon cake mix
    • 1 container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar


  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  • 2 In medium bowl, stir together cake mix, whipped topping and egg until combined. (Dough will be thick and sticky.)
  • 3 Place powdered sugar in small bowl. Using wet hands, shape tablespoonfuls of dough into balls; roll in powdered sugar. On cookie sheet, place balls 2 inches apart.
  • 4 Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are set. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.

    These are yummy!!
    Use a small disher to portion out uniform cookies and bake on a regular cookie sheet! My airbake cookie sheet left the centers too gooey and the edges too crisp. And a little extra powdered sugar sprinkled on when first taken out of the oven is a good thing, too!!
