Hi Everyone,

This year when my son celebrated his birthday, I decided to make him something different instead of the usual chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. This time I made him a Black Forest Cake frosted with homemade whipped cream. He really loved it, boy it was a hit.

actuallly two of them.  I made a six foot train cake for my son's second birthday.  With track made of red licorice, wheel from oreo cookies, kit kats for the whistle.  Each car was a different color and was for each of the kids. The second cake my husband made, it was a volcano he made from scratch, carved the cake, made the lava, the animals, etc.  It was the biggest hit.  Our son was sad when we had to cut it.

Last week my sister and I had one great big birthday party.  Her daughter and my two boys birthdays are all in April and we had a big Fear Factory Party.  I did not want to do the dirt an worm cakes.  I make both the boys a regurler size then I frosted it with chocolate frosting, choped up oreo for dirt, and put cheap plastic bugs on them.  Then with my niece's cake I used a bunt pan frosted with chocolate frosting, chopped oreos for dirt, put oreos in the middle like potty soil, in the middle I put fake flowers, and then put some plastic bugs around it like lady bugs and bumble bees.  They where so cute and my first cake to make, I have always bought them.

It's been a few years, but I made a chocolate bundt cake, with chocolate frosting.  I decorated the top with teddy grahams standing up.  Used a tiny bit of colored frosting to make them look like they were wearing swimsuits.  Used sticks of gum to serve as diving boards.  Little drink umbrellas for beach umbrellas.  In the center of the cake, I set a bowl of blue jello to look like a swimming pool.  White Lifesavers were 'floating' in the pool of jello.

I usually do star-tip a picture of whatever theme they are having, some better than others. One year the whole party was Ninja Turtles and I thought it turned out well. My son's favorite, however, was from when he was into Dinosaurs. I did a prehistoric scene with a volcano and T. Rex. My son's name is Ross, and the T. Rex was growling..."Happy Birthday RRRRoss!"

The world can fall apart around me, and at least,I wake up with my little kids and I'm happy.

I believe I seen this cake in a Wilton Cake book.  It was adorable, and now I can't find it, is there any way you could send me a picture?  Thanks Patty

When my almost 30 year old was small, he was into "The Dukes of Hazzard", so I made him a General Lee car!

Orange frosting, confederate flag (frosting) on top, oreos for wheels.  People still talk about it.  LOL! I used a sheet cake, cut it in half, layered it, and carved the windshield and trunk area.
