Help with Brownies Needed

I've been asked to bring brownies to a potluck. I want my brownies to be so good that I'll bring home an empty pan. Can anybody help??

Question on the Symphony Brownies - do you break up 1 candy bar into pieces and spread them out over a 9x13 pan or just lie them whole over the 1/2 brownie mix (if so, how many bars does it take)?

mom23boyz08, I don't think 2 mixes would crawl out of a 9x13. LOL  I would add about 12 minutes, then check center. If still not done, maybe 6 more minutes, then 3 -4 minutes if needed.

lyneelu, thank you and hope you enjoy them, too!

Mom-0-5, I use 3 bars for a 9x13. I leave them whole. That helps when trying to spread the rest of the batter on top. (Well, sometimes I break off little pieces to munch on. LOL)

Sounds like you should add a little more flour to your batter. Just add a little at a time until it seems to be the right consistency.  You can always add more but you cant take it out.  This also works to make roll cookies the right consistency as well.  Otherwise they are sometimes sticky and hard to work with as well.  Hope this helps make your cookie making more fun!

I like to add caramel chips on top of the brownie mix about 10 mins into the baking.  So yummy

You use a family size box of Betty Crocker brownie mix, plain or with walnuts.

Use 3 big (about 6 oz.) Hershey bars, I use one Symphony, one regular, and one almond. Spread half of the batter on the bottom, place the 3 candy bars whole on the batter, then top with the other half of the batter. You can go to Foodnetwork.com and look up Symphony Brownies if you would like also.

 I make smore brownies

just before the brownies are ready cover with marshmellows and mini choc chips and chopped peanuts. It is always a big hit.

I found the neatest thing to make brownies look like gourmet brownies.  It is chocolate brickle chips.  You make the brownies in the cake-like fashion.  So they are thick and cakey.  Then you sprinkle the chocolate brickle chips over the top of the batter.  Then you bake it like normal.  No icing needed!  People will swear you bought them from the local bakery instead of making them yourself.

 Enjoy!

I just doubled a brownie recipe and put it in a 13x9 baking dish.  says to bake 28 minutes  but do I add time to it since I doubled the recipe, and if so how much?

Hi lar6275,  I'm sure you're a much better cook than I, but I would it probably will take at least longer to cook.  I would probably add about 10 minutes extra cooking time but keep a real close eye on it after that time, maybe check on it every 7-10 minutes.  I do know that if you start to smell it very strongly thru the house, it's done.  Then do the toothpick test.  Good luck!  I HOPE I was helpful.
