Slow cook your pork chops with a lid on the pan until the thickest part of the meat reaches 160 degrees.

Meatloaf is nothing more than hamburg, peppers, onions, spice, and water formed into a shape you desire. Mix it together and set it in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight. The water will enhance the spice permeation and penetrate the meat resulting in a even distribution of flavors. Use enough water to make a very moist mixture..Flourman Broken Heart

Hi celtics, I'v tried a lot of "meat loaf" recipes, but I think this is the "very best" Smile that I have used. I got it from www.myverybestbaking.com> . I also sometimes change the ingredents, frozen green peppers and onions. Seasoned bread crumbs or crushed cracker, I know it sounds strange with dry milk, but that helps it to be very moist! If you make it the day before and put it in the fridge., it also gives it more flavor. Since there is only two ot us, I divide it into 3 loafs, freeze two and bake one, sometimes I even bake all 3 and freeze two, then I only have to defrost it. I have also made mini loaves, like 1/4 lb.each, and meat balls.Let me know, if you try it and what you think.  MEAT LOAF

Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups plain dry bread crumbs
  • 1 small green bell pepper, chopped
  • 3/4 cup dry NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Instant Nonfat Dry Milk
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup, divided
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 pounds ground beef

Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE onion, bread crumbs, bell pepper, dry milk, water, 2 tablespoons ketchup, eggs, parsley, garlic salt and black pepper in large bowl. Add ground beef; mix lightly but thoroughly. Divide meat mixture in half and shape into two loaves. Place in ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Flatten loaves on top. Cover with remaining ketchup.

BAKE for 55 to 60 minutes or until no longer pink in center. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Two to three lbs of hamburger (leaner the better)

one tube of Ritz crackers

One sweet onion- chopped finely

One can Cambell's Vegetable Beef Soup

Two Eggs

Squirt of Ketchup

Johnnies Seasoning to taste

Grease glass or stainless 13X9 (fairly deep) with butter, after mixing all the ingredients in a bowl (using your hands is the best and most fun way of doing that to an even consistency, bake at 350 degrees for an hour or so if deep, 45 min and watch if pan is shallow. Last 10 min or so thin layer of ketchup and finish cooking. My mom made it this way and I can't find a better, more tasty recipe.

Hi celtics,

The recipe that my mother always used was very simple

2 pounds of ground beef      2 eggs    chop up a small bell pepper(green) chop a small onion  about a 1/4 cup of ketchup
about 1 tablespoon of horseradish (not the creamy stuff) and enough cracker crumbs to hold it all together.

Put in a loaf pan or a cassarole dish. Put a bit of ketchup on the top.
Bake at 375* for about 45 minutes. Or if you use a meat thermometer till it reaches well done.

Enjoy.

Just a tip, meatloaf can not be made simple if you want it flavorful and tasteful. I've tasted simple meatloaf and ugh! I might have well eaten a cheap TV dinner. But chopping up your ingredients first would help in simple preparation for a great meatloaf. I use 1/2 a small onion (red). 1 & 1/2 bellpepper. 1 celery stalk. 1 small can of diced tomato. (extra ingredient 2 teaspoons of cilantro or parsley) a small dice on these vegetables is good. Add 2 eggs, 1/4 tsp of garlic powder, 1 bag of any herbal bread stuffing and 1 cup of ketchup using 1/2 of ketchup in meat mix. Mix in well with 1&1/2 ground beef (you can liven it up with 1lb of ground lamb or pork added). Knead the mixture and mix very well. shape into loaf and bake at 325. With the left over 1/2 cup of ketchup mix with 3 tsp of water and 1&1/2 tblsp of brown sugar. When meatloaf is almost done and drained somewhat cover meatloaf with the Ketchup and let it bake 10min.

the way I was told to make meatloaf was to pre-heat the oven to 425-450 take 1-2 lbs. of hamburger,1 egg, spices as desired, onion if desired, and 1-3 cdups of oatmeal, and ketchup...mix them all together and then if you want an even tastier meatloaf add some bbq sauce or ketchup to the top and cook 45-60 minutes...if any more question please feel free to ask.

Hello Cetics,

This recipe is the way my mother taught me how to make simple meatloaf.

2lbs. of ground beef

2 large sized eggs

A pinch of seasoning salt and pepper (and red crush peppers if you choose)

1/2 cup of all purpose flour/ bread crumbs (I have tried both -whatever is more convient for you economically)

1/2  chopped green bell pepper

ketchup (to garnish the top)

** Mix all ingredents together (except ketchup)

** Place meatloaf into a square glass pan

** Bake for about 30-45 minutes in the oven on approx. 300-350 degress (depending on oven )

** About ten minutes before completion of meatloaf garnish meatlof with ketchup (just enough to cover the top)

ENJOY!!!!!

This type of meatloaf would probably take 5 minutes to prepare and 30 minutes to cook (35 minutes total).

(It also complements buttermilk mash potatoes and sweet peas)

             Slow-Cooked Taco Meat Loaf

    2    cups crushed tortilla chips
1    cup (4 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
    1    cup salsa
`   1/2  cup egg substitute
    1    envelope taco seasoning
    2    pounds lean ground beef
    1/2  cup ketchup
    1/4  cup packed brown sugar
    2    tablespoons Louisiana-
          style hot sauce

1. In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture;
mix well. Shape into a round loaf.
2. Cut three 20-in. x 3-in. strips of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Crisscross the
    strips so they resemble the spokes of a wheel. Place meat loaf in the center;
pull the strips up and bend the edges to form handles. Grasp the foil handles
to transfer loaf to a 3-qt. slow cooker. (Leave the foil in during cooking time.)
3. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until no pink remains and a meat thermo-
meter reads 160` Combine the ketchup, brown sugar and hot sauce; pour over
meat loaf during the last hour of cooking. Let stand for 10 minutes. Use foil
strips to left loaf out of slow cooker.

i use 2 lbs of ground beef 2 cans of sloppy joe sauce 2 eggs a cup of bread crumbs.  mix the hamburger meat with the eggs breadcrumbs and a can of sloppy joe sauce with salt and pepper.  Place in a loaf pan and pour the other can of sloppy joe sauce over the loaf (just enough to cover the meat you may not need all of the sauce. plus you can use the remaining sauce to dip the meat loaf in while you are eating it.) If you like onions you can also slice yellow onions and place over the loaf.  I've found that you can just leave them as rings it takes less time and looks pretty Big Smile bake at 350 until desired doneness.  I dont give a specific amount of time because i like mine light pink in the middle and not everybody is the same.  Good luck.

I make this recipe and my family loves it.  I have altered it slightly by omitting the water and replacing it with BBQ sauce.  Still moist and very flavorful!

Just made one for dinner today....about 2# lean ground beef, 1 pkg onion soup mix, 2 eggs beaten, 1 cup oatmeal and 1 can tomato soup. Mix all together and shape as desired in a 8 x 8 dish. Cook at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

I have my own easy meatloaf recipe that works for me every time:

1 pound lean ground beef

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup mild salsa (or 3/4 cup, as long as the meat mixture doesn't get too wet)

1 large egg

salt and freshly ground black pepper - 1/2 tsp each

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

TO TOP MEATLOAF:

3 strips of lean bacon

1/4 cup tomato sauce

Worchestershire sauce

Work together all the meatloaf ingredients using two large forks or your hands, being careful not to squeeze the mixture too much but to work more to thoroughly blend.

Work gently into a loaf shape and put either in a bread pan or a meatloaf pan.

cut bacon strips in half and layer across top of loaf. Blend tomato sauce and Worchestershire sauce, adding salt and pepper.  Spoon over meatloaf being sure to cover top.

Bake at 375 for 45 minutes or until begins to look crisp.  Let rest for at least 10 minutes before cutting.

ENJOY!!

I've always enjoyed the honest taste of food without the costumes of sauces, gravies and coatings.
