Great Meals You’ve Made (From The Local Farmer’s Market)

I’ve read a lot recently about the benefits of shopping at Farmer’s Markets. One of the reasons? It’s easier on your wallet. Here is a great link that talks about this more in-depth.

Wondering where your Farmer’s Market is? These links can help you: http://states.farmersmarket.com/ or http://www.localharvest.org/

Betty Crocker has some great meal ideas you can make with ingredients that can be easily found at your Farmers Market. See them here

So tell us- what are you favorite items you’re buying from your Farmer’s Market? What recipes have you made thanks to the local produce? Looking forward to reading your recipes (and stories!)

Sincerely, Cate

PS: Also… I read this and I thought it was cool (wish I had this when I was a teenager!) http://www.urbanmamas.com/exchange/2009/04/kids-cook-at-the-portland-farmers-market.html
Read about how some Farmer’s Markets in Portland is having cooking classes for kids 7-15. Thought this link was worth sharing!

I got lucky at a farmers market and scored a HUGE amount of tomatoes. Golden, red, green. I also picked up some bell peppers, garlic, and green onions. These ingrediants inspired me to try my hand at home made tomato sauce (to go over home made meatballs) I didn't use a recipe - so I don't have one. However, my end product tasted great.

I'm thinking of picking up some peaches next weekend and making a cobbler. For that I'll need a recipie. Anyone know one?
