What kind of cook/baker are you?

Southern cook who learned from my Grandmother and mother how to cook.

Do you have any specialties? If so, what are they? My specialty food is Grandmother's Butter Pound Cake and anything that comes from the sea.

(2) What brings you to the community? Looking for ways to cut my food costs while still feeding my family good, wholesome meals.

(3) Describe your kitchen in 5 words. Galley-style...Just right for me!

(4) What kitchen appliance can you not live with out? Garbage Disposal (Trust me, I tried!)

(5) Anything else you want to share with everyone.  Any ideas on great coupon sites, great low costs meals, and not-so-fancy recipies would be great!

Hi,

My love for cooking is baking and party food.  I have recently retired from cake decorating, I started at age 11 and continued until age 43. I have been self employed as a cake decorator, baker most of my life.  Now I am in my second year of teaching Culinary Arts in our high school vocational program.  I finally decided what to do when I grow up.  I love my job.  I have always wanted to teach kids to cook.  I also teach after school cooking classes to days a week for 1st - 12th graders.

I love to try new recipes and that is why I am here.

My home kitchen is not all that great but hopefully I will be able to remodel in the next year or two.

My kitchen aid mixer was my favorite appliance for many years.  I love my knives and all my tools.  I am learning to love my 24" griddle I use at school.

I have a huge collection of cookbooks.  I looked on my shelf to find my first cookbook that I received probably in kindergarten or first grade.  I spent hours thumbing through the pages and looking at the drawings and dreaming of things I wanted to prepare.  It looks really rough now and the pages are comming loose.  The title is "Betty Crocker's New Boys and Girls Cookbook", so I guess between my mom teaching me too cook I also have to credit Betty Crocker in starting my love for cooking.

HI grandmadeb, nice to meet you.

Hello,

My name is Robin and I live in Poulsbo, WA

I like to try out new and EASY recipes whenever I have my days off of work. Since I work at night now I hardly ever get into the kitchen to cook so that's what I do when I am off. I do have a knack for putting casseroles together.

I am here because I received an e-mail from Freefly for a free Betty Crocker sample.

My Kitchen in 5 words:

Spacious, clean, inviting, warm and friendly.

I am looking for any tips on easy, quick solutions and helpful tips. Wink

Hello,

1) I Love to cook, I like to take a dish that I have eaten in a restaurant and recreate it at home.  I usually do pretty well.  I like to try new recipes, and usually will change them enough to call them my own as they are not much like the origial.  LOL.  I would say my specialty is recreating something I liked the taste of.

2) I love to chat about food, cook food, and teach about food.  I Love to help and like to learn.

3) Mine, theraputic, sometimes messy but always clean (okay that is technically 7 but that is the closest I can get)

4) Stove

5) I was born and raised on the Nort west coast of the use and now live in the South East.  LOL  Love the different foods I have been exposed to.  I love southern foods Alot but do try to slim some down a bit. I look forward to helping, sharing and learning with you all.

I am a thirty something working mom.  My user name is just what it says - I miss my sis.  She passed away almost 3 years ago.  She was not only my sister, but my best friend.  She taught me alot about life seeing how she was 3 years older than me.  She was the type that could take ANYTHING from the cupboard\pantry and make a GREAT meal out of it.  I like to cook and bake just about anything.  I don't really have a specialty.  Although my family raves about my fried chicken - some of them say its better than KFC - I think they just like to flatter me to get me to make it.  I came to the community through work.  I was bored and thought I would see if I could find any new quick and easy recipes.  Describe my kitchen in five words...hum I don't know.  Its open, bright, organized and kid friendly.  I could not live with out my pressure cooker!! Something about me - how about  my daughter she is 11 soon to be 12 - she was a Fri the 13th baby born with red hair, and an only child.  Despite all of this she is a GREAT kid.  She loves to cook - maybe more than I do.  We do alot in the kitchen together.  She tells me she wants to be a chef when she grows up.  We also watch alot of Food network together, and I hope we continue to have a healthy relationship in and out of the kitchen.  Missmysis

I am a guy, retired & who would have thought I had this passion in me for baking.  If I had to pick mone i couldn't live with out my stand mixer. If you would call it a specialty it would be Cheesecake & pizza.  My kitchen is average.  My passion for baking & some cooking brought me to the site. If there are any bakers- cooks in the Port Richey area I would love to form a club.

Hello,

I am a cook, not so much a baker.  I have a few specialities like potatoe soup, an awsome carrot cake, tamale pie.

I have come here looking for a receipe that i have been looking for for about 15 years, and i am pretty sure is was

a Betty Crocker receipe.

My kitchen...is comfortable, efficient, well organized.

I could not live without my stove.

I especially love to cook for special occasions for groups of 25 or more.

Hello,

I have just started staying at home and have developed a deeper love for cooking. I am best known for my casseroles or "just throwing something together" meals.

I joined bettyCrocker  by looking for a from scratch frosting for a from scratch strawberry cake and decided to join for the sheer recipes of it.

My kitchen is big and I love cooking in it.

I couldn't live without my oven/stovetop

3/24/2009 9:01 PM

Okay here I go.

1. What kind of cook am I?  My specialty is following a recipe to a tee.  I would love to do more, but am unfamiliar how.

2. I love this website.  Hopefully by reaching out to other "cooks" I can improve my skills.

3. 5 words to describe my kitchen: small, uninspiring, in need of a kitchen makeover, functional and clean.

4. Dishwasher!!  I wouldn't even move into an apartment when I was in college unless it had a dishwasher.

5. I look foreward to meeting others as you introduce yourselves.
