Smothered Porkchops

Hello everyone  I finally cooked my smothered porkchops dish last night and it turned out wonderful!!! Alabamacooker and chicagosinger it took me a minute to get the right consistency for the gravy/sauce and when I did it looked so good I had to take a picture (LOL) This was something new for my hubby but he enjoyed it and I realized this is pretty much the same gravy Bob Evans use for their biscuits and gravy dish.  For those interested I got the recipe from BC just type in pork chop dishes. In a skillet I put a quarter of oil and brown my chops, take them out, add in chopped onions to porkchop drippings and cook til softened add half and half for gravy sauce stir may add bacon bits (I didn't) and voila! you have smothered porkchops

Smothered Porkchops

So glad the recipe turned out good for you! This recipe would be great with chicken breasts or ground beef patties, too.

Here's the recipe for anyone that might like to try it.

Smothered Chops with Bacon Bits

From Betty Crocker

1/3 cup Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
5 lean bone-in pork loin chops, about 1/2 inch thick (about 1 1/4 pounds)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 tablespoon Gold Medal all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups half-and-half
1/4 cup Betty Crocker Bac~Os bacon flavor bits

1. In shallow dish, stir together 1/3 cup flour, the salt and pepper. Coat pork chops with flour mixture, shaking off excess.

2. In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Cook pork chops in oil about 10 minutes, turning once, until brown. Remove from skillet.

3. Stir onion into drippings in skillet. Cook about 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until softened. Stir in 1 tablespoon flour. Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in half-and-half and bacon bits.

4. Return pork chops to skillet. Cover and cook over medium-low heat about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pork is no longer pink in center.
