Yes I'd love to have the orange chiffon recipe. The one I remember had 2 sizes and ingredients for each - one a smaller cake and one a larger one. Thanks so much.

Re: 1960's Orange Cake Recipe

I'd like to have the recipe for the orange chiffon cake. As I remember, it was from the fifties (when I was in high school). There were two recipes - one for a loaf cake and another for a cake in a tube pan.) There also was an orange filling made with orange juice and cornstarch.]

I'm new at this so don't know how it works.  I assume that you will be able to respond to me somehow.

 Thanks very much

Liz

1960's Orange Cake Recipe

Hello everyone!

While you are in your recipe books can you locate the the "how to" rules on cooking a can of Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk?  I lost mine some where a while back.  If anyone doesn't know what I am talking about, you submerge a can in water and boil it for certain amount of time 3 or 4 or 5 hours and let it cool and open it and you have the most delicious caramel flan you have ever tasted.  My husband is desperate for some of this and I just can't remember what the heck I did with the instructions for doing it.  HELP!

Thanks ahead of time!

Re: 1960's Orange Cake Recipe

gjc915,

Here is my recipe for Orange Cake; I don't know if it's what you are looking for or not.

DeeMarie

ORANGE DREAM CAKE

  • 1 package white or yellow cake mix

  • 3/4 cup Miracle Whip

  • 1 packet Dream Whip, dry

  • 3/4 cup orange juice

  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten

  • 2 teaspoons orange zest

Grease and lightly flour a 10" bundt pan.  Preheat oven to 350°F.

Combine cake mix, Miracle Whip, dry Dream Whip, orange juice, beaten eggs and orange zest.  Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Pour into prepared bundt pan.  Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of cake comes out clean.  Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes.  Loosen cake from sides of pan and invert onto serving dish.  Allow to cool completely before adding drizzle to cake.

ORANGE DRIZZLE

  • 1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

  • 1/2 cup coconut

Combine confectioners' sugar, orange juice and orange zest; you may have to use a little more orange juice to get the right consistency for the drizzle.  Sprinkle top with coconut.
