Hamburger Helper Rice Oriental

I have been surfing the web to find sources of the Rice Oriental flavor of Hamburger Helper, only to find it is discontinued.  The amount of other people I came across in my search who are as chagrined as I am about its loss is noteworthy, and I wanted to make TPTB aware of how greatly it is missed by many.  It is actually a meal I would make if my stomach was upset, as something about it had a soothing effect on my system (medicinal argument?).  Pleeeeze bring it back!

O.k. I realize you are talking about "Hamburger Helper", but thought you might find some comfort in what I have to say. I just fiinished dinner and I am in Heaven (of course, not literally).  I decided to try something new on my last grocery shopping trip, and that was Betty Crocker Asian Chicken Helper-Chicken Fried Rice. It was soooooooooo delicious. Maybe you can try it with Hamburger if you'd rather, but it was amazing with chicken. I won't have to go out for fried rice anymore. Big Smile

My mom gave me a wonderful recipe that is pretty similar to the rice oriental hamburger helper. Every time my boyfriend and I go to the store and buy hamburger helper he complains that they don't sell the rice oriental anymore. Hopefully this recipe will help...

2lbs. of ground beef(fry and drain)

1/2 cup of chopped onion

1/2 cup of chopped celery

2 cans of chicken rice soup

2 cans of cream of mushroom soup

1 can of minute rice

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 can water

mix all ingredients together in a cassarole dish

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes

10 minutes for its done sprinkle chow mein noodles on top

serve with soy sauce and more chow mein noodles or my boyfriend likes it with ketchup

ENJOY!

Up until a couple of months ago, I was able to find my favorite HH, Rice Oriental, whenever I wanted.  Now I am distraught to find out that it has been discontinued....  If it can be brought back or bought in bulk anywhere, please let me knwo...  Thank you....  Sad

Same as everyone else. I could get Rice Oriental at Winn Dixie here for a long time, until it closed down. Then I found it at the Piggly Wiggly across town, so I bought it there for a while until it was discontinued. I have also e-mailed Betty Crocker. This has been my favorite food at home since I can remember. It is really sad that it is gone. We need it back and in all of the Wal-Mart stores. Wal-Mart is the main store here and they never carried Rice Oriental.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Rice Oriental!!

I am amazed with all this interest in a discontinued product, that someone at Betty Crocker has not pushed to bring this product back.

I tried the Asian Beef Fried Rice, it tasted similar but was not the same.

I absolutely LOVED Hamburger Helper Rice Oriental. That is the only one I ever ate. I tried others and like someone else said all the cheesy ones taste similar. I had people in other states look for it when it went off the shelves and no one could find it. The other newer flavors are not the same. I would like to know the reasoning behind discontinuing it to begin with.

IF anyone is interested, I have an ORIGINAL BOX of Rice Oriental. Expiration date is 2006.

******************.

I had saved it looking to find one more so I could make then (my family needs 2-3 boxed for a meal). I found it in my cupboard today and I hit the net looking to find more. I am disapointed they don't make it anymore. I grew up with my mom making that flavor, adding a can of cream of celery soup (mushroom is better) and some Chung King Noodles and backing it. Way good!!!!
