Does anyone remember the Green Giant Creamed Peas?

I remember growing up in Southern Ohio, my mother used to purchase Green Giant Creamed Peas at Big Bear...I used to love them and can't find them any more...They were frozen peas that had blocks of cream sauce that used to melt in order to create the sauce...Mmm...Mmmm...

If anyone knows where to find anything like this, please let me know...

Thanks In Advance...

Mike...

Mike,

I don't remember ever seeing anything like the Green Giant Creamed Peas, but why don't you try making them yourself?

Creamed Peas

  • 2 c. frozen green peas, thawed
  • 2/3 c. water
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbps. butter
  • 1/3 c. heavy cream
  • 2 Tbps. flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

In a medium saucepan, combine peas, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then stir in butter.  In a small bowl, whisk together cream, flour, and sugar. Stir mixture into peas. Cook over medium-high heat until thick and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
